Career mode academy
CAREER MODE ACADEMY NEEDS A PROPER OVERHAUL
The academy system in Career Mode has loads of potential, but it needs to feel much more like an actual football academy.
- Sign players from other clubs’ academies
Instead of only scouting players ourselves, we should be able to find talented youngsters already in other clubs’ academies and try to sign them.
Other clubs should also be able to approach and poach our academy players. This would make youth recruitment much more realistic and competitive.
- Promote AND send players back to the academy
If I promote a youth player to the first team, I should be able to send them back into the academy if they’re not ready or aren’t getting enough game time.
It should work both ways:
Academy → First Team → Academy
- Add proper 11v11 youth tournaments
Keep the 5v5 Rush youth tournament, but also give us proper 11v11 academy tournaments.
Full-size pitch, full teams, group stages, knockout rounds and proper youth-team opposition.
- Better atmosphere in youth matches
The 11v11 youth tournament should have proper football atmosphere instead of just having music constantly playing.
I want to hear the crowd, players shouting, coaches, celebrations and the general sound of a football match.
Rush can keep its 5v5 style and presentation, but 11v11 youth football should feel like an actual academy competition.
- Academy coaching staff
We should have to hire coaches specifically for our academy.
For example:
- Academy Head Coach
- Attacking Coach
- Defensive Coach
- Goalkeeping Coach
- Physical Coach
Different coaches could have different ratings, salaries and specialities. Better coaches could improve the development of academy players, while smaller clubs might have to work with cheaper coaches.
- Fix the youth tournament music bug
There is also a bug that seems to start after playing a youth tournament.
After playing a youth tournament, the music can start behaving incorrectly in normal Career Mode. For example, music can cut out during normal cutscenes when you’re doing things like signing or selling a player, while music can also continue playing during senior matches when it shouldn’t.
The music works normally before playing the youth tournament, so it seems like the tournament is causing the issue.
This needs to be fixed.
Overall, I’d love to see the academy become a much bigger part of Career Mode.
Give us proper youth competitions, realistic academy recruitment, academy coaches, the ability to move players between the academy and first team, better atmosphere, and fix the existing youth tournament bug.
Make the academy feel like an actual academy, not just a player generator.
