Serie A referee kits

I don't know if this is restricted to just Serie A or if this occurs in other leagues, but I just played a career mode with Venezia and I was given the all white away kits by default. Normally that's no issue, but the referee also had all white kit and it was hard to discern whether he was on my team making a run, or was marking the opposing team, or what it really was, the head official... 

I have photos, but obviously do not want to share with anyone outside of EA, but I don't know why they would ever by white, or the same color palette as the teams kit. Never seen this in all of my years. Teams having kit clash is infuriating, but this is a new one.
