Companion app not letting me sign in

I’ve never been able to access my companion app in all fc games as it has always said 

“Signed Into Another Device

Sorry, you cannot use the FC Companion App or Web App while signed into Football Ultimate Team on your Console or PC.

Please sign out from your Football Ultimate Team account on your console by backing out of the mode to the main FC Menu, and retry logging into the app.

Shutting off your console or PC while logged into Ultimate Team will not log you out of the mode properly.“ 

even though I’m not on ultimate team and I’m not on my console at all I’ve been using the game so it’s not a case of inactivity and I am wanting to use the companion app.

    Hi there. I’ll move your post to the FC 27 boards.

    If you’re getting the “Signed Into Another Device” message even when your console is off, it may be that your Ultimate Team session hasn’t closed properly.

    If you can, please open Ultimate Team on your console, then back all the way out to the main FC menu before closing the game. After logging out, please wait a few minutes to make sure the session has fully closed before trying the Companion App again.

    If the message is still showing, fully shut down the console (not Standby), unplug it briefly, then leave it off and try signing in through the FC Web App in a browser. If that works, sign out normally there and then try the Companion App again.
