@Konterman In weeks 2 and 3 there will be more UTOTY requirements that players will need more content available to get the requisite points/matches/criteria etc.
Not everyone will be able to compete challenge mode etc, so it is there to provide suffice content to keep people busy (should they choose) and to meet the weekly requirements.
Lots of people are also asking for harder matches and skill games, so it provides a way to play them and practice without penalising those who might not be as good at completing them.

The 8 hour reset they obviously decided to change with 3 user defined resets per day
