Share your experiences and expectations - My expectations weren't high, nor was the experience particularly thrilling. It was just average, like any other event. That said, I appreciate the increased availability of Mascherano.
What you'd love to see in this release - I would have loved a customized TOTY kit, which I believe will be added in the coming days. On a related note, I’d love to see different fonts for kits, as this has always bothered me. I prefer the size, spacing, and text-to-number size ratio of the Ice & Fire kit and the Chinese Leagues fonts. Most fonts and numbers are unnecessarily large, and in some cases, the text is larger than the numbers. For example, Ligue 1 fonts feature overly long and big letters, while the numbers are comparatively small and short, creating an awkward look.
Tell us what you think about the selected players - I wish the player selections were more diverse, particularly for goalkeepers and wing-backs. It’s often the same players appearing in every event, while others never receive a card beyond their base version.
Let us know which players you received - Bruno Fernandes, with an overall of 102, is the highest-rated player I’ve received so far. It’s usually Brandt or Zubimendi.
What you hope to get the most - My primary goal is to claim at least one untradable 105+ player from TOTY using shards.
And anything else you would like to comment on - Something not discussed enough is the lack of authentic boots in the game. Icons and Heroes players wearing generic EA boots detracts from the overall authenticity. I haven’t used any Icons or Heroes players so far because of this issue. A small community of us often discusses this, and we’d love to see more authentic boots and gloves in the game.
To conclude, the hype around this year’s TOTY seems noticeably lower compared to last year’s. I’m not sure why, but it’s evident among users worldwide. However, the soundtrack still gets me hyped.
ADDITIONAL CONCERNS outside TOTY:
- Workrates - There are inconsistencies in workrates across events. For instance, Hakan Çalhanoğlu had high/high in Trick or Treat but changed to high/medium in Thunderstruck. Similarly, Federico Dimarco’s high/high workrate in Anniversary was changed to high/medium in Thunderstruck. Barcelona center-backs typically have medium defensive workrates, even the latest Iñigo Martínez. Micky van de Ven has retained his high/medium workrate since Trick or Treat, with no updates in Lunar New Year. Marcos Llorente still doesn’t have a high defensive workrate, which is odd considering his standout work rate in real life.
- Skill moves - Some players’ skill moves ratings don’t align with their real-life abilities. For example, Nicolò Barella had 4-star skill moves in EURO but dropped to 3 stars in UCL. Anthony Gordon is yet to receive 4-star skill moves. Viktor Gyökeres deserves a 4-star rating as well. In the Lunar New Year event, only Kubo, Zirkzee, and Jones have 4+ stars, despite more skillful players being available. Pascal Groß dropped from 4 stars in Centurions to 3 stars in UCL now.
- Stamina - It’s rare to find center-backs with 5-star stamina apart from Icons. In the latest event, only Marquinhos has more than 4-star stamina, which feels unrealistic given that many defenders can easily last 120 minutes in real life.
- Unrealistic stats - Eric Dier’s free-kick rating surpasses most free-kick specialists, despite scoring only three free-kick goals (?) in his senior career. This stat feels completely unrealistic.
- Face scans - Some notable players still lack proper face scans. These include Aleksandr Golovin, Nico Paz, Riccardo Calafiori & Ferdi Kadıoğlu (who share the same face), Pau Cubarsí, Aleksandar Pavlović, Artem Dovbyk, Kenan Yıldız, Francisco Conceição, Gary Medel, Fernando Muslera, Lucas Chevalier, Muhammed Aktürkoğlu, Bryan Zaragoza, Hugo Ekitike, Tijjani Reijnders, Charles De Ketelaere, and Crysencio Summerville.
