Unfortunately many game players for some educational reasons never studied mathematical probability, and never took the time to open the info button that displays probabilities of obtaining different cards for each event. In any case Good Luck to all.
@mendozzamagic well that's the rub. Current event design encompasses the worst elements of old mobile and console approaches. The old Fifa Mobile approach was to play variously challenging side matches and skill games for currencies to redeem rewards that included top end items if you grinded the whole event (ok, prime icons were always out of reach). If you were p2p you accelerated your progress and were able to get more high end rewards. The console approach is to grind for packs in pvp modes. Yes, its pack luck based, but it was balanced by offering sbc and objectives based rewards.
The current FC Mobile approach uses very basic, autoplayable ai content for currency to gamble on packs. As the content is too easy, it's not engaging, just a means to an end. The packs offer very low probablilties to get anything but low to middling rewards. This cannot be changed by spending money (it just adds to the number of packs you can open). The team has added some exchanges recently for mid tier players, so that's a start. What's missing is a way to achieve top end rewards through some form of gameplay like champs on console.
As it stands, events lack engagement unless you really like gambling. Rivals is somewhat pointless as the rewards are seriously underwhelming. Same for challenge mode, it's either not challenging or offers minimal rewards for the effort. Let's not even start with league vs league.
As for event design one could take this to its logical conclusion and go all out console. Play pvp for packs and dispose of the lame ai content altogether. Would save the players time autoplaying boring content and EA could rationalize on the event design team. This would also provide rivals some much needed incentives. Alternatively, one could re-introduce some more complex event designs, but that's likely too much to ask for.
- mendozzamagic2 years agoHero+@tomjam099 The problem with adding more PvP content is that it is rife with cheaters making it impossible to actually progress without cheating … add in the fact that there is not the server coverage of console, so h2h for a lot of us is unplayable (at least competitively) due to lag, and it means that any forms of PvP within events is problematic as it rewards the cheaters and excludes many based on distance.
I get your frustration though - the side challenges that are meant to be a bit more difficult could actually be more difficult - i can beat most of them with my test account that I only open once a week to claim the mystery signing players (and I am not that skillful) 🫣- tomjam0992 years agoSeasoned Vanguard
@mendozzamagic cheating appears to be (at least in NA) confined mainly to the upper echelons of rivals (Leg1 and up). In seasons past I would be up there by now, but this season has no incentives so it’s daily minimum and out. Down here in WC there is no cheating that I can see, it’s quite competitive, and no need to build a high end team or spend any money.
So outside of the top 10,000 in any rivals mode, playing rivals for event tokens could work quite well. Add to it some rivals objectives for tokens (like play games, win games, score with player x) and you have yourself a game. Re-introduce sets where you can build a high end player to balance out the pack gambling (like in other EA games). In my mind this is all solvable with proper event design. At this rate though, we’re gonna play 3 skill games and a match for toty tokens to gamble for random low/mid players and the odd nominee. The only entertainment is going to be watching Antwan and Tak trying to put lipstick on the pig during the lifestream. Enjoy.😉
- mendozzamagic2 years agoHero+@tomjam099 I’m down in the lower echelons and i regularly hit cheaters - they need to work their way up too 🫣
I don’t mind event linked rivals objectives that require playing - it’s the winning that gets problematic because you could get really unlucky and hit a heap of cheaters.
There was an event last season where they did it really well, where you did have to win a few, but it was relatively easy (like 40% of matches) and play the rest (like 20 or so) to reach the top tier of rewards. Matchmaking was on OVR as well, so I could play with themed line up (like Australia World Cup side) and have some fun at a lower OVR where there were indeed less cheaters (although this season much worse for cheats)
