Any way to mute online opponents on different console?

Is there any way to mute opponents online that are on a different console? I'm on Xbox and have crossplay enabled but it looks like I will have to turn it off. I'm playing MUT H2H and nearly every opponent I've played that has a Play Station icon has had their mic on the entire game. I don't use a mic and don't understand why anyone would, especially leaving it hot the entire time with loud convos in foreign languages and people eating and music blasting. It's ruining the experience of playing, having to keep turning the sound off because people are that ignorant and loud. Is the only solution to turn off crossplay since I cannot mute someone on a different console? There's an option to mute players on Xbox at least.
