Madden 24 makes my cpu temp go high 90 to 96. My temps are usually 77 to 87.

You need a proper cooler on that chip, 80-87 idle is not normal either…you should be idling in the 30-40 range with a high of 60-70 with proper cooling.  Blow your stuff out and clean all the dust from the fins if you do have a 360mm or 280mm water cooler…

@BigShotChunk I would take @nike23osu  advice and do some dusting. I have a system with a I9 9900K with a 3090 and that chip stays cool on more demanding games than Madden. Also, my system with a Ryzen 5950X paired with a 4090 never gets over 65 playing Madden 24 maxed settings. Both has 360mm AIO on them and Ryzen runs hot anyway.

May need to reapply thermal paste if you haven't in a long time.

Yea, 77-80 when running games isn’t normal…I keep my 5900x clocked to 4.6 ghz and after playing madden since 130 today the max temp I’ve hit has been 49.1 on the cpu die and 39.8 on cpu tactless/tide over that period as reported by hwinfo…I’d accept temps up to 65ish under load anything after that your cooler is either insufficient or not working properly.  I’m only running a liquid freezor II 360mm less than 8 months old. Every year you should blow out the fins on coolers as dirt get trapped in them and they don’t cool right…if you do have a water cooler aio especially a Corsair one check that the pump is working in the software if the pump is reading 0rpm then that’s an issue.

I cleaned my radiator and replaced the thermal paste last week also i have a NZXT Kraken 360mm im not saying madden is a demanding game but there has to be something wrong with it. It needs to be more optimize.

what AIO cooler do u recommend?

@BigShotChunk I would run something like Cinebench and see what temps you get. Are you playing at 4K? If not, any of the standard 360mm AIO's would work. I've used MSI, Corsair, NTXZ and they all should cool that chip I would also check bios update and see if there's anything  worth updating for, and chipset drivers also. 

@BigShotChunkweird, i never get to hot playing this game compared to some others, I would say I'm in low 30s, but every now and then the pc freezes or crashes the game. I think the game needs optimization to help the cpu.

For example I tried plenty of very demanding cpu games, none went to 100% like madden did. Not cyberpunk, not arma 3, new world, warhammer warzone. no mans sky red dead 2 list goes on. I also done this all recently today so madden is def running hotter than it should. Even in 720 30 fps low setting it drives my cpu to 100%, My friend also has a i9 with 64 ram and crashes. New pc that plays red dead in 8k can't play madden in 720 30 fps. Def something wrong here

Also always shoot for the best cooling you can get, it can save you esp from games like this were cpu is out of control. Would hate to see a i9 get broken by madden 24 or unoptimized game. Also likely to give it a longer lifespan the cooler it is.

The problem isn't the cooling more of madden itself, but seeing those temps i would still get a better cooler

@Roy4423the thing is this game is just running way to much on the cpu for what it's giving out. This game shouldn't demand such high cpu usage. The spikes kind of give it away. This game is pushing my cpu harder than any game, you name it cyberpunk, fivem, no mans sky red dead arma 3 warhammer ect This game needs to be optimized.
Someone said Fifa released and was the same way, then they optimized it.

no problem, you have a cooler in that nzxt Kracken that is more than enough cooling so i wouldnt go buying another cooler you wont gain anything or be upgrading it.  My max temps after a two hour session is 60, but im not on an intel chip so idk what to tell you unless your AIO pump is dead...can you hear the aio pump running or better yet can you see the rpms in the cam software, maybe check that...asitek pumps that all the aio companies use can fail, thats only way i see your temps getting so high...even 80 sounds kinda high for my liking even tho chips can handle more thermal throttling usually kicks in which degrades performance.
