Ratings in game & franchise potential ratings

The rating system is off.

The superstar traits needs to be dropped during in game use. It should not even have a setting to turn it off or on. It should be forced off, and the ratings adjusted to amend the offset. Superstar traits should only be a guide for arbitrary trade value and Free agent value in franchise mode for elite players, or players who have those capabilities.

A new rating system needs to be established & a precedent set that does and will not ever change. I see what you guys are aiming to do, but it's off when a 77 overall rated players have superstar abilities doesnt seem logical we are saying that an above avg player has an ability as a superstar. If you take the traits out and make matchups based on how good one player is compared to the other, while understanding that just bc you are elite doesn't mean a lesser rated player can't beat you from time to time but mostly the higher rated player should win.

My example would be wr vs db: depending on the route called a wr can beat dbs, with dependence on what coverage the dB is in man or zone or if the Wr moves around alot in formation or in different offensive sets.

Lt vs RE unless it's elite on elite usually the LT wins the matchup, we see weak LT get dominated by better RE's.

Establish a potential threshold this is mainly for franchise modes. Like the thing that guys are doing when they build teams in franchise is finding lower rated guys w elite skill ratings then they will train them for full seasons making them elite by getting there awareness up, this does not happen often in NFL. A 50 overall rated player should top out at a low end back up at say 65. No way should he be able to progress to 99.

Offer a potential max of about 10pts for players ranked 60 or below, so a 50 at best could only rise to a 60, and a 60 at best could only reach 70, this would be for all vets & undrafted players within the 1st 4 years to start their careers.

Rookies ratings should be capped at 75 tops 76 and that's the 1st overall pick. Top 15 picks should have a max potential threshold of about up to 20pts, bc they can often reach superstar levels.

Pick #16 to end of 2nd rd max threshold up to 15pts

All other rounds would be 10 in line w the vets & undrafted players.

Rookie draft ratings coming in should fall btwn 60 - 75, or 76.

I suggest a rating like i have stated above in order to keep franchise rosters uniformed and balanced, and to prevent things like what's happening in my next sentence.

In Franchise mode, we often see teams loaded w 99 overall players, plz show me a NFL team with all elite players at every positions? With the ability to afford them all within their salary cap structure.

Speed ratings dominate madden, speed kills yes, but just bc a corner back is fast doesn't mean he excels at the corner back position, and the same for WR, just bc this 5th string practice squad WR has 99 Speed, he should not be able to be used in game as some secret weapon. We see fast wr all the time in NFL never amount to good NFL WR. Guys use these methods as was to exploit the game. It makes ppl just not want to play it bc it's not realistic at all.

I know ppl always bring up the nostalgia of the older madden games, but their is a point to it. The late 90s to late 2000s madden had the ratings crushed and overall gameplay that made madden the iconic game it is today, but kinda like the dallas cowboys madden is living of that hype from yester year and the guys who can remember what those games where like dont want anything to do w these new iterations. Wr vs Db & defensive linemen vs offensive lineman matchups where amazing, even tho guys like jevon kearse would ruin your life. The developers need to go back and play these older games on original Playstation & original Xbox, I'd suggest from madden 99 to at least like madden 08, but up to madden 2012 if they can stomach it. The best madden of all time is consensus prly madden 2000, just listen to the intro, if that don't make you wanna play some football and get madden back to where it was, then nothing will.

Playing against cpu on all madden in any of the modern installments is a feat that I don't recommend anyone trying. Their reaction time is way to heightened, their interception rate is ridiculous. Ppl want a tough challenge no doubt, but and inevitable defeat time and time again is just not fun, and not worth playing.

I think to fix madden it needs to be taken back to it's roots back to the bare minimum where the game play vs cpu is the precedent and then the head to head action will fall in line.

I have more topics to come, as I have been testing 25 and just from my recent experiences with some of the latter versions that seem to show all the same tendencies and we just don't like it, nor do we want that.

  • I cannot agree with you about all-madden. I play off-line franchise and have won the Super Bowl four times in a row. Currently I am in franchise year 2045 3-0 and what I learned is how to use my scheme. Too old (66) to be a expert stick guy, I use my scheme and build my team that way. Now are there impossible plays the CPU makes? All the time!!! But, I form my team with speed on defense and a solid ground game to keep the CPU offense on the sideline. Lockdown corners, draft or trade for corners that are strong enough to play safety also. I only look for fast linebackers and either keep them at linebacker or if strength attribute is upper 70's or 80's convert to defensive ends. I want run stuffers at DT. Fast and strong. On offense, I want blazing speed at RB and WR. I form my offensive line with high run blocking, 90+ strength, but upper 60' or 70's speed especially at center.  Got to be able to make those second level blocks!! I carry four TE's. Two high blocking TE's that I use to switch out WR on my I formation power set and a OT at TE on the line. For my pass catching TE's I usually look at all WR's in the league from lowest to highest OVL. Some WR are mispositioned and can be converted to TE with good speed. Actually, using this method I found an anomaly in year 2044. I found a rookie wide out with 89 speed and 94 acceleration. He was a 65 overall, but what caught my eye was his size. He was frigging 6'9" 245. I first I thought, dude you are really old, my eyes are going bad!!!! So I traded 5 and 6 to get him. I changed his position to TE and he jumped to 78 OVL. So I tried him in a game and this dude reached over the LB cover guy, grabbed the pass, gets drilled by the safety coming over the top, bounced off of the hit and scores. Needless to say, after the game I changed his OVL back to WR, cut him, signed him back in FA and signed him to seven year deal for peanuts and converted him back to WR. Now his jersey is selling like hotcakes (among the top ten in the league). My QB is a guy I found in FA 75 OVL. Been in the league four years as a backup, not many passes thrown. What drew me to him was 99 THP, 80 S, 82 M and 81 D. At 6'6 with 98 injury, I jumped on this guy. Anyway, got to get to work. When playing all-madden, I have learned three key things, Hound the CPU QB relentlessly with your pass rush, keep the CPU offense on the sideline (burn that clock baby!!!) and minimize putting the ball in the air because the CPU defense will make impossible plays on the ball. IT'S IN THE GAME BABY!!!

Man I've been running the ball on madden for the past few versions, it's just not fun not being able to throw the ball, we talking about a football sim that should be emulate the NFL, and the NFL I watch you are able to pass the ball.

That's exactly my point about the ratings, you can beef guys up bc of their skill traits like 99 speed or 99 thp. It has not been a secret in madden for a while now, sorry you just now catching on to this.

How many back up qbs have became elite superstar qbs, that's unrealistic and the game needs to be more realistic based.

Last point you should not need to have a 99 overall rated team just to be able to stop the CPU, or beat them by means of milking the game and keeping their Offense on sideline. We not playing 1950 football.

You just wait iy will get old to you, bc I've been doing that at least the past 5 games, and milking the clock ain't cutting it for me.

Hey, I understand your point. My way of playing is not for everyone, but I really enjoy pounding the ball. My current squad is 83 overall and I might throw maybe 7 times a game and pound the rest. Now there are teams that shut down the run and I am forced to throw. To be honest, I tend to have trouble with those teams, but then I make adjustments and go over the top. But if their safeties can cover ground and have high awareness that's an additional problem. My wideouts can beat any corner one on one, but those high-end safeties with range cause some problems. I love playing 1950 football, especially if that what it takes to win on All-Madden. By the way, what do you think of the reviews from the beta testers so far? I saw something about the kick meter and I wonder if how seamless has the new kickoff rules been implemented.

Actually there is a lot of 1950 football going on in the NFL right now. When any team plays KC, the first thing said is to keep Mahomes on the sideline. IT'S IN THE GAME BABY!!
