Why Can't I Control My Receiver Still!!

Before they completely changed the form for Madden in 2019, you used to be able to turn into a receiver after a pass and control his movements.  WHY WOULD THEY REMOVE THIS FUNCTION?????? Over the years, it has led me into hundreds of interceptions because I put the ball in a spot where the receiver can get it if they have braincells, but they never try to go get a ball!  Instead, a defender, unhindered by a route to run, can freely roam to where the ball is ACTUALLY going, and just pick it off.  Thank CHRIST they at least made it a little better so that pulling down on precision passing is no longer an auto-interception button like in 24.  But seriously, HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO UNLOCK THE RECEIVER WHEN THE USER BECOMES THEM?????  Just put it back in there!  Let the receivers play the football like in most of Madden history!

  • you can press b or o to switch onto the wr after the balls been released to control where the wr is running.

@STINKYxPINKIEx27idk why but this doesn't function well even for myself. Not all the time but quite often there seems to be either very heavy delay, or no switch at all even after pressing the button. Happens on defense too, which is a whole other monster of a problem of things not functioning as intended.

@MaddenUniversity are you on Xbox or PS5, and do you experience delay at all? I'm trying to narrow down why it happens and who it happens to. Happens most on All-Madden is all I can discern so far.

@GVRH I'm on PS5 and play virtually all my games on All-Pro because it's the difficulty for online ranked games. In those rarer cases when I play offline H2H, I play All-Madden.

While I haven't experienced the delay in switching defenders/receivers, I have often expereinced what developers call a 'catch hole' where we switch to a player and press a button and the player stops instead of performing the action... it's due to not having a contextual animation for an uber-specific set of circumstances... I've lost multiple games because of it and it's been a persistent problem for years (although it's better than it used to be). Fortunately, i've developed a few strategies to avoid them that aren't too cumbersome.

I wonder if that is what everyone is talking about...

@MaddenUniversity I will definitely say, even though I almost exclusively play All-Madden Franchise, All-Pro seems like a much more balanced experience. I need to find some decent sliders for AP at some point.

I'm quite familiar with the catch hole lol...just one of many things that's been pissing me off for years. Only have had it happen a handful of times this year though, and each was on switching to a DB that took me out of play to make an interception or break up where they just didn't react with the input command to animate. Curious to hear your strategies for this if you care to share.

I've never experienced switch delay like this in the past though, and I'm on PS5 too. It's like the game straight up denies me the ability to switch players, at the most crucial times especially, as it almost always costs me be it a first down, touchdown, or game. In fact, I have a Feedback Post called "FIX THE FRIGGIN DEFENSE" where this inability to switch defenders cost me a touchdown and is a perfect example of the problem, so you can check that out to sorta get a better idea of the issue. I can imagine hardware has to be a factor to some extent for those that experience it, but there definitely needs to be more investigation into it by players and EA.
