DirectX 12 Error in Madden NFL 25
Hello EA Community,
I'm experiencing a persistent DirectX error when playing the newest Madden NFL 25 on my PC. I've tried several troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists. Here are the details of the error and what I’ve tried so far:
Error Details:
- Error Message: DirectX function "m_platDevice2->CreatePipelineState(&desc.stateStreamBlob, __uuidof(**&pipeline), IID_PPV_ARGS_Helper(&pipeline))" failed with E_INVALIDARG ("An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function.").
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
- Driver Version: 561.09
- DirectX Version: DirectX 12
What I've Tried:
Forcing DirectX 11 via EA Play Launch Options:
- Added -dx11 to the advanced launch options in EA Play.
- No change, the game still crashes with the same DirectX error.
Creating a DirectX 11 Shortcut:
- Created a shortcut for Madden25.exe and added -dx11 to the target path.
- Launched the game using this shortcut, but the issue persists.
Compatibility Mode:
- Ran the game in Windows 8 and Windows 7 compatibility modes.
- Checked "Run this program as an administrator."
- Error still occurs.
Graphics Drivers:
- Performed a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA drivers using DDU.
- Tried rolling back to an older stable driver version (531.68).
- The error continues regardless of driver version.
Disabling Overlays:
- Disabled overlays from NVIDIA GeForce Experience, Steam, and Discord.
- No effect on the issue.
Reinstalling DirectX:
- Ran the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer to repair DirectX.
- Confirmed DirectX 12 is installed and functioning for other applications.
Lowering In-Game Graphics Settings:
- Attempted to manually lower graphics settings by editing config files (e.g., disabling shadows, anti-aliasing, and ray tracing).
- Could not locate specific DirectX settings in the config files.
Reinstalling Madden NFL 25:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game through EA Play.
- The DirectX error still occurs on launch.
System Specifications:
- Operating System: Windows 10
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
- GPU Driver Version: 561.09 (also tested with 531.68)
- RAM: 16GB
- DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Issue Summary:
Despite all troubleshooting efforts, Madden NFL 25 continues to throw a DirectX 12 error related to pipeline state creation. Attempts to force the game to run in DirectX 11 have not been successful, and the error persists across multiple driver versions and after reinstalling the game.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has encountered this issue or has found a solution. Is there a known issue with DirectX 12 compatibility for Madden NFL 25 on certain hardware configurations? Are there any additional steps I can take to resolve this problem?
Any assistance or guidance from the community or EA Support would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Disabling motherboard graphic adapter and insuring I had the monitor plugged into the actual video card worked for me as well.
It still takes three or four attempts to load the damned game (crashes back to ea app, ughh) but eventually it loads.
