Online is unplayable in its current state. Can I change max ping or servers?

I am having severe trouble with lag when playing head 2 head games on madden. I live in a densely populated state and I also have to have high speed internet since I work from home. Direct LAN cable is plugged into my ps5 with little network activity on my router and I am still experiencing extreme lag every snap. This lag is causing delays between 3 to 5 seconds every play and every drop back I am getting sacked 20 yards on offense  and giving up touchdowns every play on defense. This is all while the game is telling me MY OPPONENT is having troubles with connectivity yet I am the one suffering the consequences. The game is virtually unplayable for me in head 2 head because the lag is so bad I literally cannot see what my players are doing to make a decision nor react to the opposing team. In NHL they allow you to adjust max ping or your servers on FIFA does madden have an option for this? This is the only thing I can think of doing since I know from my experience in other games and from work that it’s not my internet that is the problem.
