Superstar mode won't let me play in the league because it says I am a free agent

I feel a bit silly for spending money on the new game considering I can't even play the mode I was most excited about. I tried restarting the game but everytime I launch Superstar Mode it just shows my QB in a white jersey with no option to play season game or anything.
