Swimming against the current - I like Madden26
I've played Madden since 04 and NCAA/CFB since 2003. I'm not really a "gamer", I mainly play Madden, CFB and NBA 2k but I'm a casual in 2k. I've played on All-Madden for over 20 years, mainly an offline game, almost never play online h2h or multiplayer leagues.
Madden 26's gameplay is really good. I own the game on PC, here are some things I like:
- I love the movement system and footplanting.
- Stunts, Coverage shells, coverage coach adjustments (safety midpoint, depth, safety split)
- Playbooks are great. Lots of motion, which matches the NFL. I wish the motion were a bit smoother sometimes, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of Madden22/23
- Hit sticks are more difficult to land
- Graphics on PC are absolutely amazing, game runs really well (4090, 9800x3d, DDR5 RAM 6000 mts). I can hit 60FPS and stay under 40% GPU utilization at 1440p.
- Player likeness is really improving. Playing with Kyler Murray, his running style looks JUST like him.
- Pre-play stances are cool, need more.
- We need more QB cadences that are real voices.
- Multiple broadcast teams!
- Different presentation packages for Monday, Thursday & Sunday night - awesome
- Intros are great especially the night ones. Mascots are a nice touch.
Things that need to be improved or added:
- Game has to tell a way better story in-game. Tracking RB's approaching 100 yards, receivers getting to 100 yards. etc - every game has it's own story and the game just fails to do this.
- Please add DLSS to Madden on PC. I see that FIFA/FC is getting DLSS support, I hope this comes to CFB & Madden.
- Safeties in a deep middle or outside zone (cover 1 or cover 2 man) are just really bad. They never drive on the ball, they are basically only there to stop go routes... they are worthless vs the post.
- Jump ball is basically non-existent on all-madden.
- CPU running game was really bad mid-cycle, but a recent patch fixed it. We need the CPU ground game to still be better.
- I know there is a 'timing based' knockout system, but how exactly does it work? Are you supposed to press 'play receiver' or 'swat ball'? How do I know if I hit the button early or late?
- You really need to find a system that allows you to enter all your nfl combine face scans into the game for EVERY player. I understand that your current system is time/labor intensive. I really hope you are able to find a new system that can allow the face scan for every player.
- CPU QB play is nice, but we need even more traits to make them stand out.
- Player emotion post-play improved in M24 (or maybe it was M23), but we need audio. I don't need it to sound like the mic is right next to the player, but if a player makes a big play and jumps up and screams a war-cry, I can hear that on the TV broadcast in real life, I need to be able to hear it in the game.
- Designed Bootleg/rollouts need a separate coach adjustment. Allow me to have my DE's stay home or crash - this mimics a real life coach adjustment that every Defensive Coordinator has to decide. If I see the DE crashing down on the unblocked backside, let me hit him with a rollout or split zone him.
