Server error with franchise unavailable

Receiving an error with my main franchise, indicating the franchise is "temporarily unavailable." Based upon a search of the various forums, this (usually) comes back on its own after several days, but there seems to be little or no support/feedback from EA to fix the problem. 

Is there anything that can be done to address this recurring problem? Or better yet, stop requiring us to create online franchises for single-player custom leagues? It seems like this would cut down on server traffic and would therefore be a good thing?
