MUT Out Of Position Players

Has there been a change to how out of position players work in MUT?

I have Pregame Access Robert Spillane upgraded and the "Sam" alternate position chemistry applied

However, when I place him in the lineup as the "Sam" linebacker it states he's out of position and does not contribute to chemistry

In the past, if I player has alternate position they counted towards team chemistry

Is this change by design or is it a bug?
