[Suggestion] XP for calling counter plays and pre-snap guesses / adjustments

I would like to suggest awarding XPs not only for the outcome of games or plays (e.g. gained yards, TDs, etc.), but also for decisions made before the play (regardless of how well the play ultimately works out). I am thinking of versatile play calling (see also [Suggestion] Play Calling Variety Score (XPs) to motivate versatile play calling | EA Forums - 12458335) and good responses to what your opponent shows you pre-snap. It should be rewarded if you choose the right counter plays to your opponent's plays or make the right adjustments before the snap, depending on how your opponent lines up. On the defensive side, you could use the guesses already integrated into the game (whether pass, run, which direction, etc.), but also whether you activate the ‘Defend the Sticks’ option in 3rd or 4th downs, etc. On the offensive side, you could introduce something similar by guessing whether your opponent is playing Cover 2, Man or Zone Coverage, etc., but also which opposing player is blitzing, etc.).

Why am I making this suggestion?

  • It would motivate players to adapt to their opponents' strategy more and increase incentives to not always do the same regardless of what their opponents do, thereby varying their own play.
  • This would have the positive side effect of players learning as many features of the game as possible and using them in the game, which in turn would allow them to enjoy the versatility of the game and football itself.
  • On the other hand, it would also reduce potential frustration if something goes wrong during plays or you are simply unlucky. Actually, in football it should be the case that plays don't always work perfectly. If you still receive something because you made good decisions beforehand, hopefully it does not feel that frustrating.
  • It would also reduce frustration when your opponents always do the same in H2H and gets away with it simply because they have a much stronger lineup and you just can't stop them. In this case, you can at least earn (a lot of) XP just because you can easily guess what is coming next.
  • In general, I would very much welcome it if you were rewarded for playing well, even if you lose. I think my suggestion could contribute to this and would complement my earlier suggestion of distinguishing between (1) rewards for improving your own lineup and (2) achievements as a record of your own victories (see also [Suggestion] Rewards (for Lineup improvements) vs. Achievements | EA Forums - 12458208). I hope that this will make MUT much more fun.

I think it would be very good if these strategic decisions/adjustments/calls/guesses could potentially earn you as many XPs (extra!) as you can achieve simply by scoring good results (in the form of gained yards, TDs, etc.) through the play itself. This would provide sufficient motivation to engage in versatile, strategic play and to try things out that may not always work perfectly. Even if something goes wrong, you still get something out of it. And if you prefer to always do what you already know, that should be okay too. In that case, you get the XP as before, for example, if you simply run down the entire field monotonously with the same play and are successful doing it.

I think this suggestion could be easily integrated into the existing Field Pass system, and all the necessary features should already be available in the game. All that would be needed is to award XP for it...
