Is IR really broken?

I was a huge Madden Football fan since the first one on Sega Genesis. Stopped playing many years ago. Madden 27 is my first time back. I play franchise and coach mode. All about the strategy and coaching. Developing a team.

After years gone, I am blown away at how many terrible bugs and complete failures exist in this game. The one I just ran into is being unable to take a player off IR. When I placed in on the list, the game text said he would have to stay on IR for a minimum of 4-weeks. Now, 6-weeks later the player has been healed for a couple weeks. We have an open roster spot. No other players have been activated from the IR list. But I simply don't get the option to activate him.

Absolutely game-breaking. Essential functionality that doesn't work. How can a game that's been around for literally 35 years release a game with so much wrong with it?

Yep same glitch is on xbox, ive made a few posts here but they have still not even addressed it. Im ok with it because I barley use IR myself, but the AI teams can't manage IR properly.

It's a easy fix I'd assume, I believe all they would have to do is remove the current cap on how many players you can take off ir per season, I think it's 8, but i also think the cap breaks the ai for some reason.

I hope they actually read these reviews, but I really doubt they do. If they did i feel like it would of been fixed by now

  • Yep. Same glitch for the past 5 years. I'm on playstation. I'm minoring in programming right now. It's not that hard to fix. But blaming ea and saying they're a money hungry, careless mega-company wont help.

What will help? Making noise is the only power we have other than simply not buying. Honestly I think the real issue is the exclusive rights deal EA has with the the NFL and NFLPA. Maybe we should be complaining to them.

Hey MaericLXXV you are right about the exclusive rights deal, which is technically illegal. The problem is no other company want to make an NFL simulation game. If 2K wanted to make an NFL simulation game, they would. The issues are the cost of developing the game, and then would you be able to take enough market share away from madden to be worth it. I went on a crusade to try to end the exclusive rights thing a couple years ago and very quickly realized it wasn't going to happen. What we need to do is your 2nd idea, stop buying the game. It has gotten progressively worse year after year for 10 years. It is the only way change will ever happen.
