Franchise mode issues/recommendations

Hi there, just saw the title update come through and I appreciate you working on fixing things in franchise mode.

Here are some of the remaining issues or topics to discuss:
- CPU teams are still drafting players at positions that don't make sense at all. For example, the Saints drafted a left tackle in round 1 when they have Banks at LT and Fuaga at RT (and the CPU isn't smart enough to change that player's position to LG/RG ofc lol)
- seems like draft class strength isn't really affected when switching to very weak, weak, strong, etc.
- players who are traded are assuming the cap penalty along with it. For example, in our league after TJ Watt was traded he had a 90+ mil cap pen on his new team (while the Steelers took a similar cap penalty number. Another example was Pearsall was traded three times, and his third team still had a 4.4 mil cap pen to release/trade him)
- players in in-season free agency should be ineligible to sign 2 year deals. Many times, you can sign them for 10 years with $0 bonus/guaranteed
- players who will not re-sign can simply be released and then signed them long term in in-season free agency for 10 years with very little if any bonus money. This includes very high overall players and is insane lol
- players are still sometimes not able to come off of IR when put on it (C4 -- streamer -- has also streamed about this recently) This has been an issue for multiple maddens now
- what are the chances of you implementing a "slow dev" again in franchise mode? (to make it so there are some true busts in each draft class, it's something I think would benefit the game)
- in my CPU franchise, multiple teams had 10+ LGs or RGs for example, each with over 5+ mil of cap penalties, which is insane
- players who are less than 70-75 ov should not be receiving guaranteed contracts with high bonus level money for multiple years. Is there a way for those players not to be eligible for 2+ year contracts or fully guaranteed deals? It is incredibly unrealistic for these backup players to sign heavily guaranteed and long term contracts.
- seems like dev trait regression is also not working as intended

Thank you!

    Hey there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write out this incredibly detailed breakdown! Feedback like this is exactly what helps us dial in the game Madden NFL 27 Title Update August 26, 2026.

I agree with the CPU draft logic—seeing a team burn a 1st-round pick on a Left Tackle when they already have both tackle spots locked down with young stars like Banks and Fuaga definitely takes you out of the immersion!

While we just rolled out fixes for Wear & Tear, College Coach abilities, and custom roster imports, the Franchise team is actually actively investigating several of the other economy and contract issues you mentioned here—including CPU roster depth deficiencies, unrealistic contract negotiations, and illogical salary cap progression.

We'll go ahead and pass it along to the right team so they can take a look-see!

I guess we'll have to set the DeLorean's temporal displacement dial to next week to see what else they roll out, because where we're going, we don't need roads!
