Can't Pick a Play or Call Timeout etc

I was playing a game yesterday and in the 4th I got stuck almost every play or so where I was unable to pick a play on offense. The only fix was to pause and unpause but you only get like 1 pause in the game. 

It was CFM and the only thing I could do is wait to get a delay of game. Thank god I was blowing him out but that could've sucked in a close game. I can link the twitch vod if it's helpful but it's literally how I described it the playart would come up and no inputs work, can't scroll and pick a play and can't call timeout.
