Make Owner Mode stand out again

Owner mode currently feels like just playing coach mode with a few extra headaches. There need to be significant changes made to the mode if it is going to be worthy of continued inclusion.

First off, as the owner, unless you are playing in Jerry Jones mode, you currently have far too much influence over exactly what your team is going to be doing on the field. Owners should not be able to change their team schemes and playbooks. Those should be determined by the coaches you hire. The ability of an owner to have control of this aspect of their team should be removed.

When you are an owner, player personality grades matter a TON for your jersey sales, and ability to make the money you need to be able to offer signing bonuses, but there is currently NO way to know even a range of what a player's personality grade will be in the draft. You can't see it until they are on roster. Change it from being called a personality rating to what it actually is, a popularity rating, and make it something that can be evaluated as part of the draft process.

If your coordinators are being offered opportunities with other teams, give the owner a chance to make a matching, or higher financial offer, with coordinators having motivations that impact their willingness to sign, just like the players have.

Add a stadium development tree, similar to the staff development tree, with points being earned based on franchise on field and financial success. The stadium tree could have different special features similar to the old stadium upgrades, where you can add arcades, or specialty food kiosks, or facilities that help minimize injury recovery time, things like that. This would be so much better than just a constantly degrading stadium you have to spend money to fix every few years.

When moving a team, bring back team and uniform creation. If the PS2 and original Xbox had the processing power required for it, the modern consoles certainly do as well. This has been a feature we have wanted back for a long time.

Bring back players transitioning from retirement to being coaches, and add more coaching positions than just the primary coordinators. At minimum a QB coach, RB coach, WR/TE coach, OL coach, DL coach, LB coach, and DB coach. They don't need full blown trees like the coordinators have, but could instead just provide a 1-5 point boost to a group of 3-4 attributes for players in their position group. Position group coaches could also be hired up to be OC/DC, and eventually transition to HC as well.

Allow the Owner to set promotional days and giveaways for up to 4 home games during the season. This could give you a significant attendance and financial boost if you own a team that is currently struggling, and is absolutely something owners do in real life.

If you have more suggestions for making Owner mode worth playing again, add them in the comments below.

@draknreznall It 100% could use some things to make it stand out more. I've had a few ideas myself, but I'll start w/ commenting on each of the things u had said.

I don't quite see a problem w/ being able to change schemes, playboys, etc as an owner, even though I don't do any of it myself. While I get where u r coming from w/ it, I don't think it should be removed. Make it a commish tool that u can turn the features in or off.

I like the idea of making personality/popularity trait a thing for scouting. But also of course the higher their draft grade, the higher the trait should be. Obviously there could be some outliers late round picks who were super popular in college, but they were at a small school or got injured heading to draft. Or the high grades that could come crashing down b/c the early Rd pick is a bust.

Nothing I can truly add to this one b/c I 100% agree. As of now, we can't really do anything about OCs and DCs moving on unless we r out of playoffs. I always try to keep mine extended for that reason. But I've also noticed that we can't even hire OCs or DCs as HC which I think is stupid. So I guess there is acrually something to add to this. 😄

I actually really like this suggestion. It sucks trying to balance using owner funds for stadium upgrades, then for signing bonuses. And it sure doesn't help when u only make $ playing at home, and even then, u've gotta win those games to make the $. So adding a stadium tree could help keep owner funds in order, while also being able to keep ur stadium up to par. Especially since for some weird, stupid, unknown reasons they've taken the ability to give owner funds to ppl away in online franchise. And to note on top of that, u need to be able to keep ur funds in positive to not get kicked from a team and a league, which makes it even harder to do.

Obviously no argument here, and I wouldn't mind the old feature back at all.

I'd really like to see players become coaches again too. I also like the idea of expanding upon coaching. For sure makes the league 100% more in depth.

Promotional days would be nice b/c as u said, 1, it happens irl, and 2, it'll help u gain owner funding. Ur play, prestige, amongst other things should be all factor into how much funding u gain.

That's my reactions to ur points. I'll give my take on some ideas on another post.

So I'll go into detail now w/ some of my suggestions.

Again, basically covered this whole thing, and did just out the suggestion in there. Having a toggle would be the best option for all that I think.

Only thing I had to add what some busts, but otherwise I was 100% into this idea. Would work out better than Madden's current state of how it works.

Outside of hiring OCs and DCs as HCs, I actually wish we could rename the coordinators as well. I get y they r generic, but takes away from the realism as well.

Not much to add to the stadium tree, everything u had there was really good, wouldn't change anything about it. Obviously if u win more, u get more pts, similar to the staff pts, and if u lose, u don't get as many. Maybe add a bonus for home wins.

As far as relocation is concerned, besides bringing back the old feature, I actually created an entire thread on a relocation Madden website similar to the NCAA teambuilder site. U can view that here.

Players becoming coaches would be huge for return. Speaking more on positional coaches, instead of maybe just some key pts, I'd suggest basing the coaches w/ 1 of the 4 player archetypes, and then giving that position group a bonus in training for that particular archetype. So therefore some players fitting the scheme could benefit more if it's team scheme, or it ends up hindering them slightly b/c while they do progress attributes for that archetype, it doesn't help ur scheme rating or players fitting ur scheme. But in-house promotions, or hiring another team's positional coach to become OCs or DCs would be great. I'd like the ability to be able to train coaches as well to make them more well balanced as a HC. So maybe if u have a newly hired OC or DC, the staff pts would make ur coach more O or D minded as well so they've got a better mind for the game.

And no difference or any other thing to add to the promotional days, which I think worked pretty well in ur description.
