Re: "EA Servers are unavailable..."

Bumping my post because it happened again. I can delete all the folders support told me to delete and everything works. Hours later, the servers are again unavailable. Rinse, repeat.

This is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to delete Origin daily.

  • Another bump. Happened again. After talking with phone support, they suggested that I also try resetting my hosts file, flushing my dns cache, and running an SFC scan. Yup, didn't work. But, if I do all the steps in my original post, the game runs just fine. For a while. And then I have to do this all over again.

  • Happened again today, this time in the middle of playing franchise mode.

Tried that. Several times. One or both, one and off. As I noted above, I've flushed the dns cache, ran an SFC scan, reset my hosts file, double checked my internet and proxy settings, etc...

I was told via support to try a secondary Windows account. I created a new one, loaded Origin, got into the game -- same problem.

On either Windows account, I tried the original "solution" of removing the Origin software folders. It works. But, only for a handful of hours.

Just got off the phone with support and apparently, the UOTrace I sent them was "invalid". 130 packets recorded, all went through. Apparently, I did it wrong. Except...

How to get a copy of your Traceroute.
    1.Download Traceroute - https://goo.gl/DD2qFc
    2.Run the program.
If a pop-up box appears telling you "UO Server List not found," click No.

3.Click the Options menu at the top of the window, then click Advanced.
4.Type easo.ea.com in the window where you see the server list.
    5.Click the Trace Route button

6.Click the Poll button when it’s done.
7.Under the Pkts r/s column, wait for the number of packets to get up to 100 then click Stop poll.
The Stop poll button is the same as the Poll button.

I did exactly that and stopped at 130 packets. Apparently, that's invalid according to their specialist.

Anyway, I attached my dxdiag. Let's hope I didn't invalidate that somehow.

  • Here are my two UOTrace files (with location information removed).

Hop Ping Time Ping Avg % Loss Pkts r/s Ping best/worst
    1 0ms 0ms 0% 131 / 131 0ms / 3ms
    2 7ms 8ms 0% 131 / 131 2ms / 21ms

    10 91ms 91ms 0% 130 / 130 85ms / 102ms

Sorry for the poor formatting. It won't let me get fancy in here.

    And the second one...

Host Name IP Address Hop Ping Time Ping Avg % Loss Pkts r/s Ping best/worst
    1 0ms 0ms 0% 138 / 138 0ms / 2ms
    2 9ms 8ms 0% 138 / 138 7ms / 21ms
    3 9ms 10ms 0% 137 / 137 5ms / 30ms
    4 12ms 14ms 0% 137 / 137 10ms / 37ms
    5 14ms 16ms 0% 137 / 137 7ms / 35ms
    6 0ms
    7 90ms 87ms 0% 137 / 137 79ms / 99ms
    8 100ms 93ms 0% 137 / 137 85ms / 114ms
    9 90ms 95ms 0% 137 / 137 84ms / 172ms
    10 92ms 92ms 0% 137 / 137 84ms / 113ms

Zero packet loss either time. Mind you, I can still load games via Origin, uninstall and reinstall, etc. I just can't connect to EA servers inside of Madden. But, when I delete the prescribed Origin folders, everything works. I'm frustrated.

    @Rezanow

You can disregard your UOTrace being reported as invalid.

It appears that there is an issue with read/write permissions in regard to the files you keep having to delete.

Can you make sure your Windows User Account has Administrative privileges:

    https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-user-account-type-windows-10

Also, you should right click on your Origin desktop icon and run it as an Admin. when starting up Origin.

It is very much worthwhile running a malware scan with up to date software.

Once those steps are done, you might want to try temporarily disabling your antivirus to check if that is interfering.

Do post your results here, thanks.

    Tried that too. =(

Each of Origin.exe, OriginClientService.exe, and Madden19.exe have admin privileges, firewall bypass, and are specifically ignored by Windows Defender.

I've tried firewall and virus software, both on and off overall, using both Windows User accounts (one admin, one standard).

Malware Bytes hasn't found anything either.

I've attempted to make sure the Origin folders aren't read-only (right-clicking the folder, properties, unticking read-only). I also considered making the entire folder read-only, but the logic didn't make sense -- I assume Origin needs some ability to update, being online and all.

I do appreciate the responses. As frustrated as I am, at least I have a temporary solution. Now, if I could get players in-game to grab a fumble instead of leaping over it...

Oh, and by the way, I'm fairly comfortable with computers (having been on them since the Commodore 128) and have been using Windows since... well, DOS.  So, before Windows. haha  If there's any advanced tactics I can do or ways to trace/track things as I go, I'm welcome to try them.

And, I just looked at the time/date stamps of the Origin folders/files. I attempted to play this morning to see if it would connect. Only certain folders show updated files. I'll attach a screenshot of the folder contents. Please note that changes only happened in the ProgramData and AppData/Roaming portion, but the AppData/Local was unchanged.
