I don't think there's any argument against the trade logic being less than perfect.  Yes, you can exploit the CPU logic and wind up with an exorbitant number of picks including first-rounders and the trade bar makes it easier.  There are a number of ways to improve the system including ditching the trade bar altogether, but users need some sort of feedback from the system other than "no" to make the system work.  You're not alone in thinking that the bar needs to go away, but without the bar in the trade system's current form, you're really just taking shots in the dark, effectively breaking the system.

It's also worth pointing out that this wasn't an attempt by EA to alter/rework the system, but a glitch in a patch designed to rework other areas of the game.  It needs to be fixed.  I'd welcome EA to focus on revamping the trade logic system in a later release or in '19, but incidental glitches like this are frankly inexcusable.
