70 comments and no proper response says a lot about EA sports and the Madden team lol. We're use to it given it's been several years with the same system requirements on every PC release since 2019 but it's whatever.
I can confirm the PC community will receive everything a Gen4 version of the game would receive (PS4/XB1). As many of you are aware, only Gen5 consoles will receive the FieldSENSE technology. Details on what that includes is mentioned in this deep dive below:
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry Was posting that link in this thread just to rub it in? We are wanting to know what will be NEW to the version we are getting. Is it just a roster update and new theme for FOTF? Is new trade logic and scenarios for Franchise on the watered down version as well?
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry why are you continuing to beat around the bush. You know darn well that the ps4/x1 versions are in a completely different engine than the current gen console versions.
Due to your, and EA's, deflections, people here are thinking they are getting a similar game and that it is just missing a feature. That is not true at all. It is an entirely different game, in an entirely different game engine.
I would love to be playing F1 22 or any other EA game at the moment, but I can't bring myself to do it. Even though F1 22 actually has the best version on PC, with many additional features, as it should be.
Football is my game, and no one from EA will step up and address this.
We aren't going away.
I guess we have to ditch the game we have been buying for 3 consecutive decades and hope the NFL 2k game makes EA actually start paying attention to something other than ultimate team.
We should be sitting here and asking you if madden will have ray tracing on PC. Instead, we are wondering why we are getting stuck, yet again, with a game that is optimized for 10 year old hardware. - 4 years ago
You're not understanding the issue. Any current PC built/bought 2019-today can perform better than PS5 and Xbox series X. The PC edition of this game is intended for GPUs that are 9 years removed from what's up to date. That's for the recommended specs, don't get me started on the minimum requirements. The commercials that make the game look great are played on these PCs that hold 3090 GPUs. That's why they always say "Gameplay is not representative", because the next-gen consoles are 3060 GPU equivalents. Are you even reading the comments?
- CoolwaterPSN4 years agoRising Vanguard@EA_Blueberry I'm convinced you're a bot, and we are all fools.
My apologies in advance for the caps.
WE KNOW THAT THE PC VERSION IS ONLY GETTING GEN4 FEATURES!!! THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!! WE WANT GEN5 FEATURES ON PC TOO!!! - CoolwaterPSN4 years agoRising Vanguard@CBlan1224 If they're going to give us last years features, they could at least offer it at a reduced price.
Seriously. I don't know how these people have jobs outside of doing what their bosses say to not get fired.
- CoolwaterPSN4 years agoRising Vanguard@EA_Blueberry Your confirmation seals the deal. I won't be buying Madden on PC or subscribing to EA Play Pro again until there is an equivalence had with current gen consoles.
Why did EA come back to PC only to give us a last gen experience? I just don't get it. Are they not interested in selling PC games or subscription numbers? - 4 years ago@CoolwaterPSN it's not even last years features. The physics engine implemented last year, or the next gen stats, won't be in the game.
They use wordplay to make it seem like fieldsense is the only thing that's different, but the GameDay stuff they added last year and everything else I've mentioned won't be in it either. It's literally madden 20 with a roster update.
I've been tracking this topic for a couple years. This year, EA made 2 entirely different games. One in the new engine, and one in the old. It is not even possible for us to have the same game, minus a few features. It's entirely different character models, lighting, geometry, everything. - CoolwaterPSN4 years agoRising Vanguard@CBlan1224 whatever it is, i'm not buying it. So that ship has sailed.
It sucks, but EA made this bed. - 4 years ago
Just for clarity to anyone who looks at this thread, this has an "EA approved solution". The solution is telling us PC has a gen 4 game for GPUs that are 9-10 years old, instead of a next gen game for PC that can frankly outperform next gen consoles which has been the case for years. Just so there's no confusion because EA and the community managers are pretty firm on dodging the question "Why doesn't Madden 23 PC have the same features as current generation consoles".

@EA_Blueberry How far is EA with the official statement for neglecting PC?
@fonzo04 EA knows that a PC is the best machine for gaming. See releases as BF2142 and F1 22. They release those games with all the extra's for PC.
However in the case of EA-Sports or they have their head up their A**, or they just don't care about us. We are not the primary buyers even though it sales only will get better with new gen tech, so they just sell us just a new FOTF and and roster update and charge us 60 dollars for an easy crtl+c ctrl+v. Lostsoul and his mod team have made 2k5 outperform madden
19 20 2122 with a game almost 2 decades old. (Roster updates included) that just shows you what they care about here and that is only whats in your wallet. They just want you to spend 60 dollars for perhaps 500 man hours of work for the roster update. (FOTF is also on PS5 so it is not FOR us that they made it) - KWRussell4 years agoRising Traveler@EA_Blueberry Does Tiburon expect us to take this as a sign that FieldSense is the only feature gap between PC and PS5/XSXS, or are they hoping that by drip-feeding more feature gaps over the next two months, we won’t notice that you’re shipping Madden 19 5.0? Because we are already keenly aware that you’re shipping Madden 19 5.0.

@KWRussell
Your feedback and frustrated is acknowledged. The Forum Team will continue to pass along all PC fan's thoughts on feeling excluded from FieldSENSE to the team. It's not ideal and I am sure it came down to a tough decision to not be able to include this for that platform. If there is any path to adding Gen 5 features for players on PC this season we will make sure its announced to the community. Throughout my years at EA and helping the Madden team I do not anticipate any deviation from what has already been announced for this season of Madden NFL 23.
The game features/details you are requesting to be shown are unavailable to the forum team to announce at this time. As in the past, these features are showcased over Gridiron Notes and social media as we come closer to launch. We'll make sure it's posted here as soon as we become aware. It's understandable eager fans like yourself want to find out what's included on PC so you know how the game will feel and play. Pre-order bonuses are valid up until the Worldwide release date. So if there is any concerns on missing out on those benefits we thankfully have more time on our side until additional news about the game is revealed. In a world where we have Twitch & YouTube streamers and those with early access to the game it allows fans to get a good idea what a game will be like before making a purchase. Again to bring this up in the forums the EA Play Pro membership includes the full game and a huge library of other games. EA Play Basic will allow 10 hours of gameplay for Madden NFL 23. I know some players will jump into that to see if they want to purchase the full game once the 10 hours of gameplay are up.We hope you join us on the field this season but we also don't want you to feel obligated to play a game you don't think will have the best experience. Having fun in our games is a pretty big part of why we make games. We really think this year will be an amazing season of Madden NFL football on both Gen 4 and Gen 5. That is up to you to decide in the end though and we'll make sure all concerns are forwarded to the team from our side both before and after launch. That is what we are responsible here on the forums. We'll be your voice in any way we can so they can consider requests for the future.

@EA_BlueberryDoes that mean we still are not getting things like next gen stats? The things that will be revealed, are they only going to be for current gen consoles? Will this game still play like it did in 2019 for PC? Can you get an explanation as to why two different games are being released? Why waste time making two different games?
@EA_Blueberryyou are speaking as if you actually believe there is only a feature missing.
GUYS. EA MADE 2 DIFFERENT GAMES IN 2 DIFFERENT ENGINES.
Character models, lighting, shaders, geometry..all previous gen on PC.
Fieldsense is nonsense. No one cares. Stop lying about information that is public. If we were getting current gen physics and character models, no one would be in this forum right now.
It is not one feature we are missing. We are in an entirely different game engine.
Ya know..the one with stick figures and inaccurate numbers on the sidelines..
Lord have mercy. No one is interested in the current gimmick. I have been saying this over and over, but I see people responding and they are actually believing you that they are just getting a game without fieldsense.STOP IT

Everyone on PC is somewhat aware. If you go to the Steam reviews of M22 nobody wants to play M22 or M23 because we know the inner workings and can actually tell what's going on behind the scenes when an update happens or anything. It must suck for EA sports to be held to a standard when they can't BS a whole community. If you look at the system requirements on steam for Madden 22 and Madden 23, they have identical requirements. Shows how much work was put into it.

"It's not ideal and I am sure it came down to a tough decision to not be able to include this for that platform."
Some clarity on what went into that decision would be very much appreciated. What was the factor that limited this? Minimum specs changing too much? Not enough QA resources to effectively test it? - CoolwaterPSN4 years agoRising Vanguard@EA_Blueberry This is the most honest thing you've posted in this thread.
- 4 years ago@TWJanssen right! These comments from EA are so well crafted. This guy could make a killing selling salt water in the Bahamas
I see your point about f1 as well. Personally, I am a tech nerd and into game engines and rendering tech. I have a top notch machine. F1 22 has RTAO, reflections, transparencies, etc.
Too bad I am too pissed at EA to actually play it.
Though, I have to say, codemasters may be the only studio that hasn't been completely ruined by this publisher's greed. - 4 years ago
I shouldn't have to go to Youtube or Twitch to find out what features will be on Gen 4. You and the EA team should already have that information for us before Madden 23 ever launches. I mean how hard is it for you to just separate what's going to be on Gen 4 as supposed to Gen 5? For example is the AI for Gen 4 Madden 23 going to be the exact same AI as in Gen 4 Madden 21 or have they at least upgraded it? Even in the Gridiron notes I have a hard time trying to figure out "well is this just for Gen 5 or is any of it relevant to Gen 4?"
This is an EA problem not ours. Maybe you don't have that info right now, but a month from now if you're still getting asked the same questions and you "don't" have the answers then that's a problem. I mean I've already decided not to buy your game I trust you understand for obvious reasons, but you need to know that there's a pretty big communication issue going on. I mean asking for "fundamental" information about a game shouldn't be the equivalent to getting your teeth pulled out. Again not now, but you should be able to answer it pretty quickly when the game is about to come out. Anyway I'm not saying this out of anger or anything I mean I'm pretty indifferent at this point.
If it weren't done that way they wouldn't be able to sucker more people into buying a game that has minimum effort put into it.
- 4 years ago@cashmachine28 as I've said these are 2 entirely different games in 2 entirely different game engines. It has nothing to do with features being enabled or disabled.
The ps5/xsx game is in their newer game engine.
The ps4/x1/pc game is the same as its been for a decade.
Nba 2k23 just announced pc will again have the previous gen version of the game as well. They seem to follow madden each year. Unfortunately they seem to put pc in the same category as switch, for some reason. They discuss them alongside each other like they are remotely close to the same thing.
Anyway. Please don't fall for the fieldsense nonsense. They said the same thing last year with GameDay.
The fact is; they are not giving us the newest version of the game. We will have the ps4 app. The one with cardboard stick figures on the sideline.
Don't let them mention features like fieldsense. If that were the only difference, no one would care. NOTHING is the same between pc and ps5/xsx versions. The AI is different. Lighting, shaders, all assets, geometry. Everything. Its all made for hardware over a decade old.
MLB the show, nba 2k, and madden, have been games I've owned for decades.
However, I haven't played them in years because of this.
PC is the fastest growing platform. We are about to be 2 full generations ahead of console hardware, and the fact that devs are doing this is disgraceful.
Console people will say "it's because of the small player base".
That's nonsense. The small player base is because NO ONE IS GOING TO SPEND $60 TO PLAY MADDEN 13 FOR THE 10TH YEAR IN A ROW - KWRussell4 years agoRising Traveler@CBlan1224 It’s not two different engines, it’s all Frostbite. An engine that every non-sports division of EA has used to deliver next-gen experiences on PC.
