Are screen passes not a pass?

Question

Something that has annoyed me for a while now is how certain pass situations are not counted for the "Complete X passes in a row" live events.

If I complete a screen pass to my HB and he is at the same height or behind my QB, that pass is counted as incomplete by the game, regardless of how many yards I make on the play.

I could complete the pass, run for a touchdown, yet I would lose the challenge because I supposedly did not complete the pass.

Why are backwards passes not counted as complete passes, especially when they end in positive yardage?

To me, that makes no sense, since its normal for QB and HB to be at the same height for a screen pass.

@t0n1-gh7 A backward pass is considered a pitch which is considered a run play. It's the same in real football as well.
In real football if a reciever catches the ball behind the passer any yards he gains are considered rushing yards.

The NFL rulebook calls it a "backward pass" (source:&nbsp;https://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/11_Rule8_ForwardPass_BackPass_Fumble.pdf).&nbsp;Emphasis here being on pass. Going based off Madden Mobile, there are pitch plays you can call, those are grouped as run plays, however, if I call a short pass play (eg the screen pass) and then complete a horizontal pass/pitch, how is that not a completed pass?
