Arena power disparity

I just played five consecutive Arena matches and was on the short end of the power rating by 500, 500, 600, 400 and 550.

Now I’ve been on the grind, mostly F2P, to build a 98 overall with just under 6000 power & I don’t stand a chance in Arena matches because I can’t get an even matchup — let alone a favorable one.

Why is it so hard to match teams relatively evenly instead of starting one out -3 overall all the time?

Never saw a company that gives people so many reasons to quit their product.

  • @Arkhaminmate It’s all about the algorithms when matching teams up. When I play a couple of hours before a new day begins I tend to draw less competitive teams. Try that!

However, in the end….. it is what it is!

Also, I use the vertical offense and have found using the Play Action passes alternating with Long passes and throwing in a run every now and then, I seem to win more than lose and I’m a 101 on offense, 103 on defense and have 7,600 power and still lose to lessor OVR teams. I tend to win more against same or higher OVR than me!

    Just keep grinding!
  • I can confirm what @lkbroach said. Playing off hours can trigger so lower opponents. The - 5 is not the end of the day. I have 102 defense after boasts and still see 98s that are are - 5 move the ball at will.  I had a 93 player, also minus 5 drop 2k on me in overdrive last month.

I would definitely check your boast set up. When I was sub 100 Offense, I boasted OL to help buy time. I run vertical now because I have faster WR and better O-line. I ran Spread before that and found lot of PA plays that worked.

There are tons of high level players for cheap right now on Auctions and you can get 99+ fairly easily in the current prono.

Just keep grinding. You will take some beatings, like I still do against even better teams than mine. Also check out Madden Mobile blog on reddit. Tons of great info there.

@bbcobb34 Until I loaded up on Boosts I would go to pass to a wide open receiver and out of nowhere their DB would intercept the ball and it was more than ridiculous! It still happens but I now understand it’s all about the Boosts, the Boosts, it’s all about the Boosts! Lol

I’d like to see them do away with the Boosts or have games where you can’t use them just so I can see how good my offense is!

  • I actually don't mind the boast at all. I think how different people deploy boast is interesting strategy to their game. I enjoy trying to allocate the right mix for the different scenarios.

There is no doubt the DBs are beast mode. I have to chuckle when Winfield at 5'9'' Mosses Randy Moss.

  • Wait … what?

The leading advice is to play off hours?

I hear what you’re saying, but is it too much to ask for a semblance of fairness WHENEVER I’m able to play?

In other modes like Overdrive ranking will come into play, so your matchups are more likely to be more balanced. For Arena it could be more stretched and you may play someone more above or below your level if a suitable matchup can't be found. The matchmaking will expand it's search to assign you an opponent.

Yes. I noticed. Kind of the point of this post.

Problem is, if you’re going to expand the scope of the player pool to such an extent, why are you penalizing players 5 Arena points for losing matchups they can’t win?
