Playing a friend

How do I play a friend? When I press the friends button to look up a friend. Nothing shows up. The friends list is empty. PLEASE HELP

Yes I'm logging into Madden Mobile with my FB account. I change the security settings in my FB account to public in case that was the issue. I have also deleted the app and re installed it, I have downloaded madden mobile to my iPad and that still doesn't allow me to play friends on FB. I have an iPhone six plus.
