The transactions are not player to player and the "bot" acts as a middleman for the transactions. There are multiple auction house servers, thus explains why you may not have seen your brother's listing. The actual supply and demand of pricing is controlled by the players though. If the Kareem Hunt sold for 1 million coins, players should be able to successfully list the item for a price around that range. If they do not sell, it's encouraged to lower the price of the item until a new buyer sells it to establish it's true price.

Ryguy, just another note thanking you for your input here and letting you know that I have witnessed the same phenomenon.

I already posted this as a reply to Blueberry but in case you are subscribed to replies I wanted you to read this and comment if you feel so inclined:
have noted of late that there are still masses of elite players posted on the AH at high prices but the mean and mode prices are now about 2/3 less than they were a cpl weeks ago. These elites are still way overpriced but now not so glaringly. Regarding the selling of elites, I have had an 89 OVR elite on sale at the AH for weeks for just 250 tokens, a steal compared to the mean asking price and a good buy even just to exchange for power yet no sale. I have had other elites for sale at auction for low prices just to see if they would sell and nope. Not one. So I put a couple Totd elites up for less than the mean asking price just to see if they will sell. I am guessing, based on how overpriced all these elites still are that I will see zero sales. I hope I am wrong. But it seems like MM's AH program is up to its same old tricks, just at less obviously insane prices. Unless a huge majority of players truly believe that their ToTD elites are going to sell for 30 or 40k. Which seems more likely? It bothers me a little that the AH is not a freer market. I realize there are reasons for some controls, but the obvious mass fake postings of elites that can't possibly be worth 2k at most at 40k apparently in order to drive up prices so that no one can buy or sell elites kind of bugs me. My question here is: why? Greed seems the obvious answer but perhaps I am missing something? Please clarify if you don't mind.
