Why did EA reverse "Madden Effect" with Overdrive (no longer NFL simulation)?
Second only to the "Madden Cover Jinx" is the newsworthiness of EA's Madden series that "Playing EA Sports Madden NFL Creates More Passionate & Knowledgable Football Fans" (as one example).
I'd like an answer to the question why EA threw that all away with Madden Overdrive? It's bad enough that the "primary" game (Overdrive) is just a stupid pick-a-play-as-fast-as-you-can spamfest, but then the Live Events that are somewhat close to being like actual football (unlike Overdrive!) can't even get the rules correct with timeouts, out-of-bounds, and basic clock management.
Madden NFL used to make fans more knowledgeable about rules, defensive alignments, blocking schemes, running routes, etc. But the Overdrive version of Madden (2019 mobile) is not NFL football anymore; it's worse than backyard football. It's like a bad hybrid of button-mashing games and all the various versions of Game of War / Clash of Clans. That is NOT going to improve the understanding of NFL football.
I don't mind the changes (multiple currencies instead of sets, no Season mode, etc), but when NONE of the modes are football-like anymore, this is no longer a FOOTBALL game.
A reasonable explanation for this major turn by EA Sports would be appreciated.
