1.08 Credit/Exp reward changes

With 1.08 players now get rewards based on the amount of waves they completed. I can see the reasoning behind that e.g. preventing exploits or discouraging solo play.

HOWEVER

What nobody seems to have taken into account is that:

*Matchmaking prioritizes lobbies that are in progress
*Players will be heavily discouraged joining any games that are in progress

So the game tries to fill up games that are in progress first but at the expense of players who are joining late.

How is this logical?

You play a match, 2 guys dc, the other 2 guys are basically either screwed or need to sweat their a**** off to finish and ALSO get gimped rewards because it wasn't a full extraction. Because who will want to join a gold match and get 10k creds in the end.

I have to say the way this was implemented is, and no offense to anyone, *.

    I have to agree. I personally prefer to play a match start to finish, the only appeal in jumping in late was the potential for easy credits(especially if your lucky enough to hit the final wave of a match.)

    Now there's zero reason or incentive to join in and help a match that may have lost players due to lag etc. Seems more like a waste of time to me, especially since those final waves and extraction are the hardest.

    And then there's the problem that you sort of have to guess of the game is in progress. A GIP indicator would be nice in that respect...

  • I just tried a quick match gold, and landed in the lobby for the "combo-tastic" Apex mission.  I know that particular mission has a reduced payout, so I left the lobby to search again... and again... and again.  The matchmaking function continually put me back in the same lobby, so I eventually just went with it.

    I think most of us have better things to do than go in and out of lobbies to avoid partial payment.

    Lol, How much credits would we actually get for joining combotastic wave 6-7 now? 1000-5000? And bronze? 100-500?

    On a more serious note:

    The current state of rewards is ridiculous. Ideas how to make it better:

    *Implement a GIP counter on the GUI: "WAVE X CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS"/"MATCH NOT STARTED"

    *Tweak the matchmaking formula to prioritize connection/region/game not in progress and let the lobbies that have DCs get screwed

    *Remove "Wave 0": what is the logic to cut someone's reward if they joined mid Wave 1? Wave 1 is a J-O-K-E on any difficulty/map/enemy faction.

    *Implement fixed "penalty values" for each difficulty (just an example what it could look like).:

       **-300/wave on bronze : 9700 creds if you joined wave 1, 7900 creds if you joined wave 7, full extraction

       **-600/wave on silver: 24 400 if you joined wave1, 20 800 if you joined wave 7, full extraction

       **-1500/wave on gold: 53 500 if you joined wave1, 44 500 if you joined wave 7, full extraction

    or

    *Revert the change

    I thought this game was supposed to be co-op and promote teamplay, so why the hell if i have DCs in my lobby, the players that jump in to help me finish the match are getting their rewards cut?

    To give an account how this has been playing out for me the last two days...

    I often log on in the morning (I'm in Europe) and I like to do the APEX missions you can play yourself, you know: "It's still early in the morning, let's start out with bronze!"

    • All Bronze APEX  lobbies I can find are already in progress (I find this out by jumping into the game without boosters to be on the safe side).
    • If I then quit the mission and start looking for another lobby, I alway get thrown back into them because the game prioritises GIPs.If I then host a lobby, it takes forever to get it filled up with other players because of that same prioritisation
    • If any players eventually do join the lobby, they ready up and if I don't because I want to wait for the lobby to fill, they get impatient and leave again.

    This leaves me with 3 options, all of which I think are undesirable:

    1. Solo the APEX mission in a private lobby (no fun)
    2. Start the APEX mission myself, and have others suffer the missed out waves/score/credit/xp (no co-op/team play)
    3. Have a Strike Team do the mission and not play it myself (no fun)

    And, last but not least: if I join an APEX mission which is already in progress, the mission stays playable until I A) play it doing all 7 waves or B) send a Strike Team. ☹️

  • One thing i noticed today is that it doesn't matter even if you join wave 1 it still reduces the amount of credits you gain significantly. I joined a on going game today at wave 1 & at the end of the match got only 47k credits instead of 55k. Just to mention that both objectives completed were 3 star if that does make a difference to the payout & i was present on both objective waves as i joined just probably 30 secs into the first wave that had started. Imo if you join the match before 3rd wave objective you should receive the same amount of credits as other players receive.

    Yea the game registers progress at the start of the wave it would seem.

    Join a GIP on mid wave 1

    End up leading the scoreboard by 5k after extraction

    Get cut rewards

    Bcos you did not help kill those 3 oberservers and 2 assemblers in the beggining of the game.

    #MEAMP #WorkingAsIntended

    This is laughable
