No matter how I try, I can't feel sorry for him or make him heroic... and his death doesn't make sense in the first place. Penetrating the suit isn't a death sentence or the comm lady would already be dead. Barring the fact that nearly anybody can hold their breath longer than Ryder did, and two of us doing that and swapping helmet makes four minutes easy, ...the omnitool can only fix cracks? How does my suit repair itself before when I get shot? Nobody thought to bring a patchkit when we decided to bring guns? I can't cover the hole in my faceplate with my hands? The suit can't overpressurize for a couple minutes to keep feeding me air? Biotic shield/barrier only works for lightning and missles? SAM can stop my heart or raise my heartrate, but he can't slow mine or Alec's down? Nobody on the team could think of any of those ideas? He's a quitter and a coward. He gives up. He decides the Initiative is a mess, he can't fix it, there's nothing left back in the MW so the wait 600 years for a cure was a bust, and he couldn't face your ma even if he revived her with one of her kids comatose (and maybe dead) and the other dead. So he dumps it all on you while using his last breath to hide the details. The whole memory trickle thing is a setup to rationalize and to try and make me accept what has been done instead of just putting it out there and letting it speak for itself. He got crushed. And I'm supposed to be able to forgive that because he's my dad and I'm not dead. Ryder, Tali, Liara, Jacob, Miranda, Vetra, etc... what is it with ME and daddy issues?

Id have to go back and see what the game said about the atmoshohere comp for that. Im on PT #3 😃😃 It gets better the more I play it for me. Keep finding different things that I either didn't hear or totally missed the previous times. I didn’t know to keep asking Lexi about the crew so even different dialogue there for me this time. They need to fix that so dialigue isn't greyed out if there is new lines to hear. Anyways.. really liking it probably helps.

scott/sara was also hit in the face by... what a metal container of some sort, and flung off the scaffolding and had a hard impact with the ground, which might have also knocked the wind out of em, and there was likely decompression as well, as i doubt at that point Hab-7's atmospheric pressure was earth norm.

They pull the drowned and hypothermic back from the dead past 4 minutes. They can also do that with heart attack victims. Then time for the shuttle to land and load her on.. chances are very high the broken helm ryder would have been dead. Sam can onky help the one with the link - so maybe able to have helped dad but guess he wasn't taking chances. Really tricky thing and split second decisions imo

N7 training should get you past the panic in life or death situations or they really should consider restructuring it.

If the atmosphere is toxic, jamming a helmetful of toxic air on my head is not going to help much... and telling me to breathe deep is a *really* bad idea.

I know I'm supposed to feel sorry for him, and be greatful I'm not dead, and that I should somehow appreciate him choosing to die... and be willing to just accept him as he is, and keep his secrets, and not question any of it too closely. But all of that is really hokey plot.

I don't agree with the harshness of your tone or bashing Alec, but I do agree that if BioWare wanted him to die, that they could have done a better job.

They obviously didn't just want the father to die, they wanted him to die in a way that would require him to save his child. They also want that child to black out even though to me, blacking out didn't make sense either. Seemed like pappy was remaining conscious longer than I was even though I was the one with the helmet.

I am uncertain as to how to accomplish what they wanted, but felt that him dying should have been enough and we didn't need him to do it by saving his kid.

You made some other good points as well, but this one stood out for me. No matter how trained Alec is, I can believe that even he can be irrational especially combined with him constantly wanting to atone for his absentee parenting in the past.

There is a reason all that training also usually includes rules about not working with people you love or care about. No matter how much training you have it all vanishes when your kids in trouble. Although I don't think he paniced, he just acted, quickly in favor of his kids safety over his own. May or may not have considered all the possible actions and outcomes and decided to go with the safest one for them. I just don't think there was any other motives behind it.

I also don't see Alec as a hero for saving his kid, too much else would suggest he wasn't the best person on many fronts, or even an overly nice one. Just a person who made a choice at a critical moment that resulted in 1 person living, 1 dying, SAM being transferred to an untrained Pathfinder (cause the Ryders are the only ones with the modified implants).

He shafted Cora big time, trained her, groomed her, never was going to make her Pathfinder, not the act of a nice person in its own right.

He had one goal and one goal only, save Ellen's life. Didn't care what got mowed down in the process (including his own kids and their careers).

Maybe he couldn't have lived with facing Ellen and telling her one of their kids died. Who knows. End result still the same and SAM got passed on to the next likely to be just as invested in saving mum.

Is it wrong of me to hope for a ton of moral decisions when finding mums cure? See how far the Ryder kid is willing to go to save mum?

Hope or dread? They're not giving you a lot of options to deviate from what they want you to do and how you should feel about it. If it continues to unfold the same way it looks like they are turning you into your dad and you just have to accept it. I am already keeping all his secrets, accepting his decisions, and working toward his goals... no questions asked to anyone but SAM, which was designed to do just that AND forced on me (again, to save my life so I somehow should feel about SAM exactly like I should my dad), and I don't question anything too closely.

Big surprise - I really don't like this particular aspect of the storyline.🙂
