Anti-aliasing and flickering, jagged edges

Hi

Trying to enjoy ME1 but the flickering, jagged edges are distracting me and ruin the immersion. Certain edges of the environment and some lights keep doing this. I tried the game on both a 1080p and 1440p monitor. I have Nvidia GTX 1070 and I have maxed out all of my settings. I even tried forcing AA in Nvidia control panel. Is this a normal issue or is it just me?

I can provide some screenshots or a video clip if it helps pinpointing the problem.

Thanks for your time.

P.S. An example of the problem; When you are on the ship on the lowest deck, the part that is marked with red on the picture is the part that has this problem. As if this edge is too low resolution compared with the rest of the graphics.

  • I keep hoping for an update to the game that would help resolve this but nothing so far.  I have an RTX 3080 and a 36" ultrawide monitor so I was hoping for a great experience with this edition but the aliasing issues are very noticeable, and the flickering lights in some of the cutscenes.  I had planned to play through using the old trilogy but was having some issues with the way the UI looked on 21:9 resolution.  For a rerelease which was marketed as primarily a visual overhaul, I was expecting a quick fix for this.

    Now playing ME3.

The same issue - anti-aliasing working poor.

Just a sample screenshot from a mission with Samara. My eyes...

  • Another one. Literally every edge is shimmering.

  • How incredibly dissapointing to read this about ME LE's poor AA support... I am gutted. I detest AA, they completely ruin the experience for me. Not about to blur the game either with crap like FXAA. Does DSR give good results? For shimmering textures too? I seem to recall ME had a lot of problems with shimmering textures. I don't really remember though, since I have almost from the beginning played with SGSSA 8x.

Guess I am glad (and sad) I didn't buy it yet, and now I won't bother either. I will just stick with the old versions of the game with ALOT and Flawless Widescreen. At least the ALOT for the original games will get some new textures added too. I would not hold my breath for EA/Bioware to fix this, if it is indeed fixable.

These are the settings I have been using of old that always got me best visual results, maybe somebody wants to try them if the flags differ from the ones they use (C5 vs C1 IIRC).
