@EgoMania @JDMStav you guys are both misreading the situation.. why do you think they tacked on the multiplayer to begin with exactly? to appeal to a larger audience! thats the only reason most developers do it! dont jump to conclusions, im aware that some games are made PRIMARILY for multiplayer to begin with, nobody is saying otherwise. but ESPECIALLY in this case it was to pull in a larger base. and you know what? i have heard countless people rave about ME3 multiplayer! infact i have a friend list full of people who loved me3 and dragon age multiplayer! the multiplayer sells alot more copies than the single player would by itself, and then they charge for the single player dlc to milk people while the bulk of the team are working on their next project.
as far as elitism.. i am an elitist. not only for my honesty, but for knowing im better than 90% of the people out there. metal? for stoned pansies maybe! you dont call somebody who jogs once a week a marathon runner or sprinter because they are NOT the same thing! just because somebody engages in an activity does not grant them use of the name. i cook things every day yet i am no chef, and i OWN that. im not going to try to deny it or gain false credibility to prove that i am infact what i am not. i spend more time playing videogames than most people spend working (props to all the workaholics out there keeping the world ticking), when i say i am a gamer im owning it. its never been a fad or something i did to fit in (VERY much the opposite) to me, its been an addiction for 40+ fecking years. so i do infact take it a bit personally when you try to blanket all people who play videogames as "gamers".. if you play hidden object games you are no gamer! if you only play rpg's you are no gamer. if you have time for sitting there reading nonsense you are no gamer. would you go up to a pipe fitter and ask them "does this spot on my back look like cancer?" NO you would go to a DOCTOR for that! who the hell cares what a pipe fitter thinks about a spot?! so why would i or anyone developing a game care about what people who ARENT gamers think? am i sinking in?? if you arent a gamer you arent qualified TO have anything but an "uninformed" opinion about games. not a "considered" opinion, not a "professional" opinion, and certainly not an "expert" opinion.
bioware USED to do single player games, since 2011 every game they have made has either been full on multiplayer or had a multiplayer component. hmm.. i wonder why THAT is. could it be..
MONEY?!
i mean surely they dont care about THAT.. we all know EA doesnt! oh wait thats hippies not game developers/publishers.. infact almost every single game using the frostbite engine has ::ghasp:: multiplayer! and since they have spent alot of money creating and updating the engine we can only LOGICALLY come to the conclusion that its no accident that multiplayer is included in the games. its there by design. 4 of the 5 best selling games EVER have multiplayer modes. i dont think you guys comprehend how many people will look at a game and if theres no multiplayer they move on.. the steam forums are FULL of threads with people asking devs to atleast add a co-op mode. infact its pretty much as old as gaming itself. pong.. multiplayer game.. super mario brothers first thing you do is pick 1 or 2 players. the industry has evolved so it is alot more focused on it NOW than it was 30 years ago with you know.. the internet and all. but by all means keep deluding yourselves by saying "single player matters more" without the mass effect 3 multiplayer this franchise would have been forgotten about long ago though.
