[PC] - Graphics Settings Not Saving After Game Restart

I have been having an issue with Mass Effect Legendary Edition on PC, where the graphics settings do not save after the game restarts.

Every time I launch the game, it launches on Monitor 3 (my main monitor), in fullscreen mode, with a 1080p resolution (see first screenshot). I have to manually change the settings each time to be Monitor 1 and Borderless Window mode (resolution automatically updates to 4K when switching to that monitor).

No matter what I do, every time I close the game and relaunch it later, the settings revert back to Monitor 3 and Fullscreen.

I contacted support, and they could not provide a solution to me. Instead, they asked me to report the issue here.

Another note is that they recommended trying a solution found here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-Legendary-Edition/Resetting-settings/m-p/10574027

However, I do not have the file path provided (<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame)

The closest equivalent that I'm able to find is: C:\Program Files\EA Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame

But in that folder, there is no "Config" folder, so that solution is invalid.

And that is most probably the problem.
So the game directory is "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition" ? (not just some leftover from an older installation?)

    If so:

Run EA app as Administrator (Right click the exe > Run as Administrator.) > Start the game and look if the "config" folder was created under "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame".

If not, try to repair the game:

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)
(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

Start the game and look if the "config" folder was created.

If the config folder does not yet exist, search your system for BIOGame.ini and enter the exact path of all appearances you find.
Also post a DxDiag in text file format. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

  • Hello, and thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, none of those troubleshooting steps seemed to do the trick.

I ran a search for the BIGame.ini file, and I've attached a screenshot of the results. They all appear to be in DLC related folders.

I also opted to completely uninstall and reinstall the game, manually creating a folder path in the Program Files (x86) folder, and the Config file still is not being created. (I ran everything As Administrator).

You did run the game at least once?

Pleas search your machine for the "GamerSettings.ini", you should get less results.

    Edit: Saving the game works?

  • Hello,

I wasn't able to find that file anywhere on my PC. And I've put over 100 hours into the trilogy thus far, always dealing with this issue. I think I'm just going to give up on this and put up with it.
