- ApprovedAnonymous9 years agoYes you can get into the room via the window! Obviously not the one which is blocked but the one on the opposite side

You are absolutely correct! I tried shooting out the window on the one side but it was blocked. Like a fool, I never thought to check on the other side. Also, got into the top floor by shooting out the window at the back. Thank you.

I don't understand what a window has to do with it?
The marker for "disable the security matrix" appears on a partially-covered open platform. When I get to the platform I can no longer bring it up by pressing the objective button and there is nothing I can interact with, but it still appears on the map.
Edit: I get it now, thank you to all who answered. 🙂
Apparently you have to go around behind the two locked rooms at the beginning of the level and there's a thing you have to be incredibly prescient to know to scan for in the top room. Then you get a hint to check the lower room and theres a machine you can interact with. That somehow triggers the marker on the platform to appear assomething you need to scan for.
- ApprovedAnonymous9 years agoHalcyon is absolutely right. Run down the hill so you can save. Reload and then walk back up the hill and it will pop as disabled and you can snag the files through the now unlocked door!

I confirm, too, that the solution works. Go down the mountain and come back up. By the way, the fact that you can get inside both locked rooms, which you should unlock throgh an action, through windows makes me think that BioWare was aware of the problem and couldn't completely fixed it so they gave a couple of workarounds. What I think happens is that if you destroy those things while you do the base mission the game gets confused.
- ApprovedAnonymous8 years agoI did exactly that, ran down, reloaded and the markers returned and finished the quest. Thank you !

Save? Have you even tried that? You cannot save during this mission.

Rather than trying to explain, I made a quick 2 min video about how I solved it:

Excuse the rambling.
Edit: I partly agree with admcmei86 on the theory on why the bug happens. I think it has something to do with when you sabotage the modules, but it seems to be a location trigger as well.
Edit 2: People say that you can get into the room through a window, but the window to the bottom room have crates covering the window. At least for me.

Replying to your EDIT 2: The lower room has two windows. If you're facing the non-functional door to the top room, then that lower-room window with the crates is below you and to your left. You want to go in the one below you and to your right, directly opposite the window you tried to go in. If you climb about halfway up the stairs to the upper room and stop on the landing before the stairs turn left, you'll see the window right in front of you.
I can't tell now if this part is bugged or not, because the doors never did open up for me but the quest completed just fine as soon as I went in the window and accessed the Kett terminal for the first contact logs. Do we know for sure that the doors are even supposed to open? Seems odd that you'd be able to shoot out the windows and work around the doors if the point was to unlock the door. Maybe disabling the security matrix just unlocks the terminal and we were always supposed to go through the window?
- ApprovedAnonymous9 years agoGot in and got them. So it isnt a bug, just not an obvious solution. Thanks so much for the info!!
- 9 years agoOn the Xbox- similar issue, except that only 2 out of the 3 consoles are smoking (I have scanned, but cannot interact with the 3rd) so I'm stuck at "disable security matrix." Doors are still locked.
Should also be noted that I had a quest market to go to the base for "fact or fiction" but once inside the base, I had no quest marker whatsoever. - 8 years agoYou rock. I also just learned that I could shoot windows because of your walkthrough. Thank you.
- ApprovedAnonymous8 years agoThanks mate, this worked for me
- ApprovedAnonymous8 years agoIt worked for me. Thanks.
But in any moment the game told me that i could break windows.
Also, thanks - ApprovedAnonymous8 years agoThere is a side window a can get in for the bottom floor as well it is on the side facing the mountain
- ApprovedAnonymous8 years ago
The side window worked for me, thanks for the advice,
I take it from all of the reports of this being bugged that EA have abandoned this game now?
- ApprovedAnonymous7 years agoThis worked! Thank you!!!
