Can not scan mission items in Hammerhead vehicle in Mass Effect 2

Can not scan mission items in Hammerhead vehicle in Mass Effect 2. No key binding for scanning and I have re-assigned shift key. I read online to reset default key settings but that didn't work either. I can not progress in game until I do this?!?!?!?
