Can you use arrow keys to steer the NOMAD?

I just tried this today and it didn't work out too well.

I like to steer vehicles with the left and right arrow keys in most of my games, but in MEA when I did this the whole screen started to spin around whenever I turned the vehicle left or right.

Is there a fix for this as I find using WSAD a little awkward?

    That's very odd 🤨

Did you try and make it so both "On foot" and "Nomad" had the same keybinds? 🤔

    I.e.

    Primary keys: WSAD

    Secondary keys: Arrow keys

you can remap the keys using 3rd party programs. i don't use them as i have no need too but its an option for you. good luck!

Thanks I know about those programs but you can remap the keys inside the actual game.

What function do the arrow keys serve anyway? All they seem to do is spin the screen around to show different views.  Yet they are not in the key bindings anywhere.

Are the left and right arrows bound to another function permanently?

No the arrow keys are not bound to anything permanently. and i do not believe they have any real function other than what you described. i searched through everything i could find on pc controls for the game and nothing came up about the arrow keys having anything to do with the game.

and the remap program idea was so you could use both the arrows and wsad to steer the nomad. if you remap in game i don't think it will allow you to use both wsad and arrows. but a 3rd party program will. as it will tell the game you're using wsad but in fact you're using arrows.

The trick is to not only change the keybindings in the "Nomad" to use the arrow keys but also in the "On foot", doing this will stop the arrow keys from controlling the camera even when driving the Nomad and your problem should be solved 😉

If you use the WSAD to steer your character and you want to keep it like this then you can change the "Secondary" key bindings instead it will work as well 🙂

Yeah WSAD is the default setting for the Nomad, and for walking on foot.

In the end I just put it back to that for both on foot and driving, and I'm just learning to use WSAD and move my mouse to keep the camera straight behind the vehicle.

I find this really odd though because every other game with driving seems to have figured this out. But ME games don't

Yes I did. I made sure both were the same.

AT the moment I am finding not too many  issues with WSAD to drive the nomad.

Anyway I am marking this solved as I seem to have found my bearings with this vehicle.

    Hehe roger that 🙂

Personally I use a gaming keypad, it makes a lot of these problems so much easier to avoid :eahigh_file:
