Cannot change FOV or toggle Command Menu

Hello everyone,

After completing ME2 recently, I wanted to get on with the franchise right away, so I purchased an Origin DL code for ME3 and installed it. In both ME1 and ME2, I changed the FOV to a higher setting and also used the workaround that allows you to toggle the command menu on and off rather than being forced to hold down the key. Both are crucial for me since I find holding down the key utterly inconvenient (annoying even) and find the game unplayable in the original FOV.

According to the tweak guide at http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/PC_Tweaks_%28Mass_Effect_3%29 there are similar workarounds for ME3. So far, so good - I downloaded the ME3 Coalesced Editor, followed the instructions to the letter and saved the file. However, nothing changes, no matter how often I repeat the procedure. In the file properties of my Coalesced.bin, it says that the file was last changed in 2012, but it should give me today's date if the Coalesced Editor had actually done anything, shouldn't it? On the other hand, if I open the file in the Editor again, all my changes are still there. I don't get it.

Does anyone have an idea what might have gone wrong, and is there any way to make these changes work? I would really love to play ME3, and I might even have gotten used to hold down the button for the command menu if there's absolutely no way at all to change that, but the FOV really kills me. I don't see why it worked perfectly in the first two games but won't work here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
