Can't use medi gel in MP
Medi Gel shows up on HUD and quick slots, but is always red. Can't use it during a mission. Health comes back after every wave, but am I missing something? Need to enable it somehow? Happens for ever...

Medi-gel in Multiplayer can only be used once you die, that's why it's being shown in red. You can get Medi-gel from certain packs that you can buy with credits in the Store.
To heal up and to restore your shields you'll have to use Ops Survival Pack, which you can get from the same packs as where you get the Medi-gel.
I think the default button for Medi-gel is 7 and for Ops Survival Pack it would be 6.
