Charm level scaling

So one of those newspaper clipping style websites said if you choose legendary scaling someone on virmire will die. I remember dialog options being a pain in the * in the original ME1 especially if you played the planets out of their intended order. So do i need to play classic scaling in order to have access to every dialog option?

P.S. Does anyone remember the proper planet order? It's been a few years since i last played.

  • There's not an "intended" order that I'm aware of, but I normally do Feros -> Therum -> Noveria -> Virmire, and I only do Virmire after having completed all the side missions that I want to.

The scaling has no direct impacts outside of leveling up and skill points, though it may have an indirect impact if for example you're 1 skill point short of a Charm/Renegade threshold and you would have acquired that skill point from an intervening level up on Classic scaling.

  • You might want to play classic anyway, just to possibly get a couple extra points by the end.

But yes, legendary can change how many talent points you'd have at any particular moment in the game, perhaps making certain options that you're used to (or if you're following some walkthrough) unavailable to you.

And I'm like @DocTheGamer. I always do Feros, then Therum, then Noveria. But you have to do a lot of work beforehand to be able to get the best outcome on Feros (shame they didn't adjust that a bit for the remaster).

  • @DocTheGamer Yes there is an intended order. It's depended on the dialog requirements for the stories on each planet. I.E.: one planet has a level 6 charm/intimidate requirement while another planet only has a level 3 charm/intimidate requirement indicating that the level 6 dialog planet is "intended" to be done after the level 3 dialog planet. I just don't remember the highest dialog requirements for each planets story line.
@devSin The only thing i really care about is having access to the dialog options when i need them. Would you mind going into more detail about the work needing to be done before hand? If feros is the planet i think it is (the spore planet) then i remember needing a high charm/intimidate level to save the green asari.

@SinShadowFox You need 12 charm (!) to get the ExoGeni guy to stand down (otherwise you have to shoot him). It's not really necessary, but it does change some import stuff in ME2.

Which means you have to get enough paragon points to fully unlock the entire bar before going to Feros (or at least enough that you know you'll get the remaining points when you get to this part of the mission).

I honestly don't remember how much work that takes (I haven't played the game in a long time), but I'm certain it's possible.

Internally, all the main planets through Virmire are just referred to as "Chapter 2". I believe Therum-Noveria-Feros is the intended order by difficulty (but again, I haven't looked at that stuff in a long time), but you really are meant to be able to do anything you want. Personally, I think the story flows better for a paragon character with the order I agreed to above.
