configuration utility stopped working
I just bought mass effect for the pc and installed it, when I go to play game it says configuration utility stopped working. have I done something wrong, my computer has windows 8

AFAIK, both Win 7 and Win 8 require the latest patch before the Configurator will run. (Interestingly, some gamers with Windows 8 have reported playing the game, without its launcher, and thus, without any kind of configuration utility, with Windows 8, before applying any patch. Windows 7 refuses to play without that last patch. )
That "latest patch" being 1.02, as described in the post: "[Information] Mass Effect 1 and Windows 7 - You need patch 1.02 to play", which is pinned to the top of this forum!
