Controls become unresponsive

A couple times now keyboard controls have become unresponsive and have to reload a save or restart the game to have controls work again

This seems to mostly happen if you die

Anyone else?

  • @EA_Atic  Im on PC using keyboard and mouse

Its the keyboard controls that goes unresponsive, makes you unable to move or interact with anything

Only thing that works at that point is ESC to open the menu and quit the game, reloading a previous save also fixed it once

Actually it just happened right now, after arriving at the Rift station, unable to exit the tram due to movement controls not working. This was even after a reload of the game

Ok, after a 3rd reload of a save, the controls became responsive again

In regards to the Tram, its like the game never sees you arrive at the destination, the camera doesnt pull out like normally after a cut scene

    Update with PC specs

    AMD Ryzen 5 3600

    Nvidia 1080 TI

    32 GB Ram

3 monitors, game runs on middle in 1920x1080 (and FYI in 5760x1080 there is a ghosting effect on the left screen, like it still renders whats behind the character in an orange outline)

  • This has also been an issue for me on PC.

In combat: sometimes when I use offensive biotics or tech powers, or melee, controls will either become temporarily unresponsive (can't shoot, holster, interact with doors/items, or use any power but can still move around.) or perma broken. In combat it is more often a temporary thing and fixes itself somehow. It's length of time in combat has varied. Sometimes it's 2-3 seconds, sometimes it's 7-8. If this bug occurs just as combat is ending, it is a perma loss of control and can only be fixed by reloading.

Out of combat: Sometimes using those same powers out of combat (I think it may have something to do with powers not 'detonating', not hitting a target) will result in a complete loss of control other than movement. No interaction, no switching weapons, no using powers or shooting, just movement. The only fix I've found is reloading to a previous save.

Just in case this is a hardware/settings issue, I've included my specs and settings below:

    i7 10700k

    Nvidia 1080

    32GB DDR4 RAM

    Multi-monitor (two) setup

    Game displayed on primary monitor

(No peripherals or accessories plugged in, no programs running but steam (and of course origin, doing nothing in the background but insisting to run))

    Vsync on (144HZ)

    Borderless Windowed

Everything On but motion blur/film grain.

Hope this helps get the issue fixed. It's happening enough that it's definitely more than just an annoyance, it's impacting the gameplay quite a bit.

  • It happened to me as well, after tram docks on rift station I can’t move Shepard, I’m running on PlayStation 4

  • I have noticed a similar problem. BUT for me it is more specifically that I can't use powers/interact WHILE trying to move. If I am in combat and try using a Quick Slot key WHILE moving, it doesn't work. I have to stop moving THEN the power will work. The problem persists when using JUST a keyboard, or trying to use and X-Box Controller. Also, the Controller's 3 assigned power buttons (LB, RB, and "Y") work WHILE Shepard is moving (i just want to be able to reassign what power "Y" is assigned to, but by default that is "Class Power" and I can't see a way to remap/reassign it to something else..... I don't mind the "Y" key, i just want to change what power is activated when I hit "Y" but the power choice is locked in to whatever Class you are playing....
