What system are you on? If you're on PC, can you right-click the game panel and choose the Repair option?

I have the same problem. I already played through Mass Effect 1 through 3 with no problem. Now I'm having this problem. I read that playing in compatibility mode and run as administrator works for some people...but it didn't for me. I also verified the game cache on Steam and I still get the same problem... ...on a game I spent money on.

EDIT: I found out setting the affinity of the game in task manager to only one CPU core fixes the problem...but I shouldn't have to do that. Games should just work.

  • There's nothing to click on, just a black screen playing background sounds. I can't even use Task Manager to kill what's left running of ME2 as the black screen insists on seizing the foreground; the only way to kill it for sure is to reboot the PC. The latest I can restore back to is the auto-save following Talid in the 800 Blocks.

  • This worked for me after over an hour of Resumes, Load Games, Repairs, config and Option changes, etc... I was playing the Trilogy version of ME2 on a quad core laptop running win7.

I went to the Citadel with Garrus and Thane to do their loyalty missions. I was doing Thane's first and always crashing at the end of the Illusive Man's summary. I finally decided to do the Garrus mission first and there was no crash. I remember doing Thane's mission first seemed to flow with the dialog and it seeming awkward to do it second.

My solution fits a particular situation but if yours is different, it might still suggest something to try.
