DLC relation to main game...

I have done a few play throughs to get my platinum trophy.  On the last play through i finished all missions.  If a start a new New Game +, and do not complete every mission like I did on my last play through, could it effect me in any way with DLC?  For example, will there be DLC that requires a certain mission to be completed first or DLC that having completed every mission in the game benefits you?  Or am I safe starting a new New Game + and playing only the required missions??

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

  • Unfortunately, no one here is going to be able to give you a definitive answer to this question.

At this time there is serious doubt rather we'll get any DLC at all. If we do, there is no way for us to know what it would possibly contain or how it would work with the main game.

Generally though, you should be fine. If you start a NG+ that should be a different save entirely. If they did release DLC and you didn't complete something on your NG+ run, you could either just complete that task before doing the DLC, or load your original run and complete the DLC with that character.

A lot of us are hoping that EA will decide to update the community on that status of Mass Effect Andromeda DLC but sadly so far our requests have been met with silence.

Yep i think the next two week will be the final chance for Andromeda. With E3 and EA Play we should definitely hear something by the first half of june.

If nothing moves during those events, the game is dead.

  • Did they announce current game missions will be continued in DLC pieces? Any DLC they released in previous ME were nothing else than separate standalone missions/ story. That would be very odd to continue with Andromeda in bits and pieces. I hope they won't do that,  but i guess it's up to them if they decide to conclude plots through DLC segments. Oh well...

I'd say it's most likely that they started production on DLC even before the game shipped.

I think the narrative that DLC may not happen started with a Kotaku article that concluded the series was put on ice because the studio was severely downsized. They ignored the fact that BioWare always downsizes teams after a game release because DLC doesn't need a whole studio. Most of the Dragon Age Inquisition team, for instance, was moved to different projects after the game released, while a smaller team worked on the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. In this case, most of BioWare Montreal's staff is now working for Motive, which is in the same building.

I think this pattern will repeat itself. A small team at Montreal is likely working on DLC right now. I would also expect BioWare Austin to chip in (they made The Descent for Dragon Age Inquisition). After Motive has completed work on their Star Wars projects, I bet many staffmembers will move back to BioWare Montreal to start developing Mass Effect Andromeda 2.

Maybe late fall will get a standalone DLC. That should be reasonable for them since the team is reduced. Also these entertainment companies have weird schedules due to a lot of overtime they have for meeting deadlines, so many could be on vacation. Usually summer is pretty slow in the entertainment field.
