I'll admit this crafting system is a bit of a mystery to me still. I wondered if there was a way to retrieve augments or even just deconstruct crafted items at all cause so far I hadn't run into it and the game doesn't really explain these things very clearly or I missed something.
Since I've only played on normal difficulty I haven't really been in trouble because of it, so it's more that it's an annoyance for me.
Anyone have any suggestions about a good source of info about this stuff?

Yup if you deconstruct your weapons and armor, all your augs and mods will be back in your inventory, DONT sell them though, if you sell your weapon, you sell all attached augs.

It's worse than you think. I don't even know how to deconstruct something beyond the option you get when picking up loot. (Hides in shame)

I could have sworn that you can unequip your helmet, as the gameplay setting for helmets has "as equipped" as an option. So you only *need* an extra chest option. And it's easy to craft a basic Tier 1 item. I think you have to have a melee weapon and one weapon, but that's it. My current loadout is a machinegun pistol, two rifles and a shotgun. Because that N7 shotgun is brutal.

You can do that in your item menu. Down there, there's option to drop as well.

Non-equipped items in the Inventory can be deconstructed by highlighting them and hitting the "X" button (for PC). It's handy at higher levels to get the rare weapons that require vandium to make, deconstruct them and then use the extremely rare components to build what you want with more augment slots.

Ahh thanks for that. I definitely overlooked that.
