[EA app] ME2 Crashes on Launch

I purchased MELE on steam and finished playing ME1 with zero problems. I then tried to start ME2 but everytime I try to open it via the LE launcher it starts to load and then crashes, like immediately. I haven’t been able to even get to the main screen. I’ve tried everything I can think of with no success.

I’m playing on windows 11 and everything is up-to-date so my system should be compatible.

Things I’ve tried:

- restarting my computer

- deleted and redownloaded the EA App

- deleted all references to EA app in my registry

- removed any save files from Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Legendary Edition (however I haven’t even been able to play the game so there’s nothing to remove from ME2)

Any advice appreciated! Thankx

@arj19971105 Hey, when you load up the game is the game in full screen or do you have it changed to Windows mode?

When you get to the game choice and click on resume, or start the game, is that when it crashes?

If you receive any errors, please attach a screenshot of those as well!

    Can you attach a DxDiag?

Yes both the launcher and the game are in full screen. Is there a way to may it windowed before the main game title screen?

That is exactly when it happens. The launcher, ME1 and ME3 open completely fine. Initially when I clicked start on ME2, the splash photo would open up and then crash completely. However now, after I click start on ME2 the entire launcher freezes. I can't click on anything and I have to manually shut down the launcher. But there are no other error screens.

I've also tried running the launcher and the EA app as an administrator. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and the EA app and I am still having the same issues.

I've attached my dxdiag. Appreciate the help!

There is a "VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED" error in your DxDiag.

    • Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all AMD driver components.
    • Install the graphics driver > Go online.
    • Test.
