Importing Mass Effect 1 saves [PS3]

I know there's a similar question already asked but my problem is slightly different.

I have completed Mass Effect 1 on PS3, and have the update that makes the 'import ME1 save' option appear on ME2's new game. my problem is that when i access this menu, it's empty. I've beaten the final boss 3 or 4 times now and it has definatley autosaved after each fight, as it should. Any help you guys can provide would be appreciated 😕mileyhappy:

    More helpful info.
Since i did not want to wait until the patch i tried out the workaround a user previously suggested.
I subscribed to playstation plus for 90 days and uploaded alle the saves from the save data utility to the cloud and deleted all the saves from the hard drive.
Since there is a limit to when you can download the save files from the cloud to your hard drivr again (24 hours) i had to wqit until now to do the following:

I only downloaded the "playthrough record/character replay data" save file back onto the drive and let the rest up in the cloud. And voila, it works! All my me1 playthroughs are once again selectable in me2.

It seems the other save files seem to somehow interfere with this and i'm sure you don't have to subscribe to plus and use cloud..i just didn't want to lose my save files.

EDIT: When i say "all the save files", i'm talking about me1 save files only.

I'm having the same problems as a lot of others here, I can't import my saves from ME1 to ME2. After contacting EA support the other night (and chatting to no fewer than 5 people), I was told that it's not currently possible to import saves from ME1 to ME2 on the PS3 version of Mass Effect Trilogy. Don't know if this is actually true or not, but it certainly looks like it. Anyone who was having problems before find a way to make this work yet? Thanks in advance.

I think that's not true, it's only that they don't want to fix this problem and they told that is not possible because of that, this problem has many years, if you see this topic you can see that the issue existed since 2012 and also some people can solve it after download the 1.04 patch and others just can't solve it

    No to all three questions.
I do not have a PS+ account, all my memory is stored on the local hard drive, and I recently downloaded the Trilogy from PSN. When I downloaded it, Mass Effect 2 was already on version 1.04, and Mass Effect was on version 1.0. I started a game on ME1, but I stopped once I learned that I wouldn't be able to transfer my save files.

I tried what you said about deleting the saved files for me2 but my me1 save still doesn't appear.

Does this still occur? I won´t be able to transfer my file without ps+ ??? that´s sad :D

  • K so, I bought the triology. Finished Mass Effect 1. I was STOKED to start Mass Effect 2. Installed it for the first time annnnnnd couldn't transfer my character. The import button shows up and when I click it all i get is a black square of sad. So far I have tried every suggestion on this thread except uninstall, reinstall but I have very little hope. I'M LIVID. I did not spend 30 bucks to get all three games to literally lose data game to game. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this?

I wanted to dust off this old chestnut because it's NOT fixed.  There are a lot of people like me who are going through the series again in anticipation of Andromeda, and will encounter this.

Also, I only experienced this on my second playthrough.  I had no problems the first time around.

    My setup:

    -PS3

-ME 1 and 2 both digital downloads from Playstation Store.

    -Both fully patched and updated.

-Everything is in the NA zone.

-This is my second playthrough of the series, and thus second character I'm trying to transfer to ME2.

    The issue:

-The ME2 "Import ME1 Character" doesn't detecte any ME1 characters.  Not even my original character that worked the first time around.

I was able to get it to work by copying up the ME1 data to the Playstation Cloud and back, but I had to burn my 14 day free trial to do it.  Forcing people to buy a service to fix a broken product is not a fix.  ME1 save files are not copyable for some reason, so there's not sample data files I can attach.

This is either a case with ME1 writing bad data to a save file or ME2 not parsing that file correctly.  Either way, it seems like a simple enough bug to replicate for this issue to be up here for over 4 years.
