Manually running the following installers should fix this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\__Installer\vc\vc2005\redist\vcredist_x86.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\__Installer\vc\vc2005\redist\vcredist_x64.exe
Let us know how you get on, thanks.

I have spent the last 2 days looking for and trying every "solution" I can find on these forums and elsewhere.
Nothing works. ME2 refuses to launch in Origin.
I have an original disk that ran perfectly without Origin on every computer I've had since the games release.
Until that idiotic Activation Limit was reached and EA support told me to add my codes to Origin. Now nothing works.

@D6-Spaz Hi, when you ran these packages did you get any notification or indicator that they failed?
Perhaps running the system file checker will help too. Even if it doesn't assist it's worth running to check that everything is running as it should

No notifications or errors except the "Invalid License. Reason Code= missing DLL MSVCP80.dl
l Error 0x7E" when I try the rename .exe files "fix". This message does not appear when the .exe files have their default names.
Ran systems file checker during multiple attempted "solutions" over the weekend. Never finding any problems.
Tried renaming the .exe files as suggested in several threads, ran repair tool, reinstalled, clean install even on different hard disks.
ME2 won't launch at all.
Click play, Origin status changes to "Playing Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe Edition." for about 5 seconds, then goes back to "Online." and nothing happens.
