Keyboard backlight goes out during ME3

I have an Alienware X51 and an Alienware TactX backlit keyboard.

When I play Mass Effect 3 the backight on the keyboard, as well as the lighting on my X51 goes out.

It starts off by changing the colors, then it will go on and off several times before going out completely.

I don't experience this with any of the other games I play nor has it happened with the previous Mass Effect games.

It's majorly annoying when playing in a dark room, which is what I do. It's a lot harder to see what I'm doing with the lighting.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? and does anyone have a solution to this problem?
