Linking Mass Effect 1 to Origin

I had the same problem, the key from the retail version was not supported and I had to buy a new copy (on Origin).

I got mine working the same way zomhead says. I contacted EA support and they gave me a new key, which one could activate in Origin. After that, you have to uninstall your original copy from the PC and download the digital one using your new key from Origin.

I followed donuter's instructions and it registered on Origin for me fine.  I originally bought ME1 on Steam but I like the idea of having it registered on Origin also.  It required I create an "EA Classic Screenname" but that was easy enough.  Showed up in my Origin library right away. 

Sry to necro this but: I registered my product code via https://activate.ea.com/gameactivation.do, and even got an email confirming this, however, it is still not showing up in Origin, and I have logged out and logged back in, also tried using the Refresh my Games Library button. Can't seem to get anything to work.  I contacted ea via email, through customer service, but haven't had a response yet. Please help

 Start a convo with an advisor on origin. Fixed my problem within 5 minutes.
